Fortnite: Battle Royale (PS4, Xbox One, PC) has a new game mode available now: Sniper Showdown. But hurry – the game mode centered around the sniper is not available indefinitely!
Server issues, login difficulties, no group features – Epic faced some challenges in Fortnite: Battle Royale last week. Since January 29th, you can enjoy a brand new mode: Sniper Showdown!
Specifically, all weapons on the map have been replaced with sniper rifles. To prevent close-combat from becoming a jump-and-move spectacle, Epic has at least scattered a few revolvers across the map so that battles can also be fought from shorter distances.
You may snipe and heal – but no throwing grenades
You can also find the obligatory support items like shields and medkits on the map. Epic has only excluded grenades to keep the fights focused solely on weapons.
Especially the removal of grenades or all explosive weapons is likely to make building bases even more important. Whoever has a base with a height advantage is likely to be relatively safe in this game mode. Unfortunately, Epic has designed the mode only for squads of four players again.
Sniper Showdown can only be played in team mode
That’s a shame, especially because solo players can do relatively little with the time-limited modes if they do not want to fill their squad. However, for fixed teams, the mode is likely to be very fun: Hunkering down in a self-built fort with four people and blasting the opponents with bullets is quite something!
You can play the Sniper Showdown mode until Friday, February 2nd. – then it will be removed from the rotation.
