The aliens in Fortnite apparently are no longer satisfied with just abducting players. Now the mothership has set its sights on Slurpy Swamp.
What’s going on in Fortnite: On August 3, 2021, the new Update 17.30 went live in Fortnite. This brought among other things the new weapon “Grab-O-Tron”, with which you can move objects around with a handy tractor beam. In addition, an item appeared that was not supposed to be released yet.
But that’s not all: With the new update, the mothership started to suck up Slurpy Swamp with a beam above the map. Apparently, the entire location is supposed to be abducted over the coming days – and it might not be the only one. This is pointed out in the official update info (via Epicgames.com).
However, already now the ongoing abduction of the location is noticeable.
Slurpy Swamp is floating towards the mothership
This is happening at Slurpy Swamp: The entire location has been captured by the mothership’s tractor beam. When you enter it, you’ll immediately notice: There’s reduced gravity here. So you can jump around wildly, just like inside the mothership.
The sight is quite crazy: Among other things, boulders, houses, trucks or boxes are currently floating upwards at Slurpy Swamp. Even the slurp juice that comes out of the pipes is flowing skyward.
Gameplay-wise, you can take advantage of this: You can jump from platform to platform and seek cover in unusual places.
What’s next? The update info mentions that the aliens are now implementing their grand plan: “The abduction of certain locations”. The fact that multiple POIs are being mentioned suggests that Slurpy will not be the last target.
However, the Slurp Factory will likely still have some business with the mothership: “Abducting an entire location doesn’t just happen overnight. So check back periodically during the week to see the progress of the abduction,” the announcement states.
