In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, some special cards have suddenly become significantly weaker, and now there is one top card that is hardly playable anymore. But what has happened here?
Update, January 18, 4:00 PM: EA has just spoken up on Twitter and announced that the error has already been fixed.
When new special cards appear in FUT, they usually remain as they are or become stronger if they are dynamic card objects. However, currently, some non-dynamic cards have curiously become weaker.
This is the card in question: Some of the new Centurions cards are affected, but especially the new, incredibly strong Ibrahimovic card (90) stands out, because it is now so weak that you can’t even play a complete match with it.
This is also reflected in the card’s price. Initially, Ibrahimovic cost a whopping 4 million coins, and now (not even 6 days later), the price has plummeted to currently 2.6 million coins.
This is what happened to the Ibrahimovic card: The Ibrahimovic card suddenly received a downgrade that is significant. Although there are no visible differences in the card’s stats, when looking at the detailed values in the game or web app, the changes are evident.
The current stats currently differ significantly (as of January 18 at 1:30 PM) from the release values.
The following stats are suddenly worse than at the card’s introduction:
- Agility: -9 points
- Balance: -24 points
- Stamina: -24 points
Here you can compare the values. On the right, you see the values as they should be, and on the left, the stats that Ibrahimovic currently presents in FUT.
However, not all values have become worse; some have even improved. Better are: Dribbling +1, Ball Control +4, Aggressiveness +11, Strength +6, and Calm +6.
But such a large decrease in balance and stamina cannot be offset by other improvements. A player that fast, who is constantly sprinting, would not likely hold out with a 61 stamina and must be substituted out at the latest by the second half.
These cards are also affected: However, not only Zlatan Ibrahimovic has strange new values. On reddit, abbytartar has noticed further stat changes in the following players:
- Verratti
- Fred
- Azpilicueta
- Aspas
- Biraghi
- Günter
- Saelemaekers
- Stuani
These have mostly received downgrades as well as a few improvements. However, not to the extent of Ibrahimovic.
Why are the cards suddenly changing their values?
Why the cards are suddenly receiving buffs and nerfs cannot be said at this time. There is no statement from EA Sports yet. However, it is likely to be a bug, as such strong downgrades simply do not seem intended, especially in the stamina area of Ibrahimovic.
