In FC 25, there are some changes for Ultimate Team. Especially cooperative gameplay with your friends looks promising in the new EA FC to acquire the best players. We present all the important changes to you.
As every year, the most popular mode in EA FC experiences some changes. In addition to innovations regarding gameplay, menu content, and game modes, EA’s focus this year is on the connection between players.
EA introduces two important changes in FC 25 Ultimate Team (UT), which make cooperative modes particularly worthwhile to acquire strong cards:
- With Rush, a 5-vs-5 mode is introduced, which you can also expect in Ultimate Team. Here, you can play on a small field with up to 3 other friends against other players.
- For the first time this season, there will be an overarching season pass for Clubs and Ultimate Team. This means you can unlock rewards for Ultimate Team while playing in Clubs with your friends.
So, if you have at least 3 teammates together before the launch of FC 25, it could pay off significantly for your rewards in Ultimate Team.
Play with friends and earn rewards for UT
How do you earn rewards when playing with friends? In the two cooperative modes “Rush” and “Clubs”, you earn points through playing and completing various tasks. When you reach a certain score, you unlock new rewards. The more rewards you get, the faster you acquire strong players for your Ultimate Team.
The two reward systems differ slightly from each other:
- In Rush, you earn coins as well as so-called Rush points. If you’ve collected enough Rush points, you can exchange them for rewards in the Ultimate Team menu.
- In Clubs and Ultimate Team, you earn direct experience points (XP) for the overarching season pass. Once you’ve earned enough XP, you reach new levels. With each new level, you unlock rewards for Clubs or Ultimate Team in FC 25.
You can even use Rush to further advance your evolutions. We have explained what the evolutions are here: EA Sports FC 24 lets you upgrade cards in Ultimate Team with “Evolutions” – Here’s how it works
Which specific rewards you will receive for Rush points is not yet known. Possible rewards could be bonus packs or experience points for the season pass.
The rewards of the season pass ranged in FC 24 from club items, professional packs, to one-time special professional cards.
Overview of all other important changes for UT
There are also some changes in gameplay, menu content, and individual game modes. All currently known innovations are listed below.
Gameplay
EA introduces a new technology in FC 25 that aims to make players and tactics even more individualized. EA has summarized these gameplay adjustments under the umbrella term “FC IQ”.
- Player Roles: With Player Roles, EA attempts to individualize the game without the ball. Players try to fulfill specific roles, adjusting their paths when creating chances and in defensive movements accordingly.
- More tactical diversity: In FC 25, you can have even more influence on your style of play. More formations and even more instructions for each individual player will facilitate this. You can even simulate your assembled tactics before the game.
If the tactics seem too complicated, you can simply have one of the best managers, like Pep Guardiola, coach your club. If you add him as a coach to your Ultimate Team, you will play according to his tactical concept, as you know it from the Manchester City team.
Menu Content
In terms of menu content, EA has tried to align itself with community feedback. This has resulted in two major innovations so far.
- Separate storage for duplicates: There will be a separate list for all duplicate cards. You can directly access this list when you want to submit duplicate players in a Squad Building Challenge (SBC).
- Revised Evolutions: In the Evolutions, you can transform normal cards into special cards. In FC 25, there will be even more possibilities for this feature. This includes being able to design the appearance of the cards with different styles and sounds.
Game Modes
Two game modes are also being adjusted. These involve player search in friendly matches and the reward system in Division Rivals.
- No skill-based matchmaking in Friendlies: In FC 25, friendly matches could become much more relaxed again. The skill-based matchmaking that sought opponents from the same division in FC 24 will no longer apply in this mode.
- New system for better rewards in Rivals:
- For every win AND every draw, you earn points to reach specific rewards, thus eliminating pointless draws in Rivals.
- Fewer checkpoints should prevent you from getting stuck at a point, thus enabling a fairer opponent search at the same skill level.
- Promotion games in the highest divisions will be introduced.
- Stronger differentiation of rewards in the various ranks and divisions.
The improved point system and reduced checkpoints aim to increase the enjoyment of gameplay. The promotion games and sharper differentiation of rewards are intended to reward the best players with the best rewards.
