In Far Cry 6 there is a funny allusion to Ubisoft’s famous Assassin’s Creed series. However, those who do what is usually done in AC games with good conscience will be severely disappointed. Find out here on MeinMMO what the deadly Easter egg is about.
What’s the deal with the hay bale? In Ubisoft’s new open-world game Far Cry 6, you are supposed to liberate a banana republic from its cruel dictator as part of a rebel group. On your way through the island, you come to a point where a wooden plank is attached to a house roof.
Under the plank, many meters down, there is a hay bale. If you balance along the plank, suddenly the shrill cry of an eagle sounds.
Players jump to their death reflexively and want an achievement for it
Why is this so insidious? Those who have never played a game from the Assassin’s Creed series, like the latest Valhalla, will likely just shrug and step back, as falls from this height are usually fatal. The eagle is just a creature flying around here.
However, those who have only played one Assassin’s Creed game should suddenly recall a very specific, almost iconic scene from the assassination epic.
One of the most important abilities of the assassins is the “Leap of Faith,” in which the respective assassin plunges into the depths from sometimes absurd heights while performing some devoted acrobatics.
Instead of smashing to pieces, the assassin lands safely and unscathed in a conveniently placed hay bale beneath them. The eagle’s scream indicates that the leap of faith is working here, and one can confidently dive into the depths.
This is what happens when you make the AC move in Far Cry: In Far Cry 6, however, you do not play as an assassin, but as a simple guerrilla fighter, and if you jump off a house roof, you smash into the ground and die. The Easter egg from Assassin’s Creed is purely a gag and does not simply give you the powers of assassins!
How are players reacting to this? Various players have already fallen for the leap of faith and ended up as smashed corpses in the hay. Much to the delight of the nasty dictator. However, instead of getting upset about such a mean trick, players are celebrating the scene and even wish for a reward for their fatal recklessness:
- DnDaddy: ‘Ha, I did it 5 times because I hoped to get an achievement!’
- Stevenomes: ‘It’s still a leap of faith. But the faith was wrongly chosen.’
- Dissident88: ‘I would have made an achievement called “Wrong Game!” out of that!’
So much for this mean Easter egg from Assassin’s Creed in Far Cry 6 and why it is a stupid idea to jump into the depths at the sound of an eagle. Where such actions will probably work well is in the possibly planned Assassin’s Creed MMO.
