What is this prologue? “An Apocalyptic Situation” is a new, free quest in Elder Scrolls Online. It serves as the prologue for the upcoming expansion Deadwood, which will be released at the end of 2021.

Deadlands will be the last DLC for 2021
With Deadlands, the story arc of the year-long tale “Gates of Oblivion” concludes, in which you, as a player, are supposed to close the aforementioned gates to the realm of Oblivion again. Deadlands is expected to be released in the fall, but a precise date is yet to be confirmed.
November is possible, as during Deadlands, the new Update 32 should also be released, in which you will finally receive the loot you still need. According to Bethesda, the update is expected in November.
How exactly things will proceed with ESO in 2022 can currently only be speculated. Perhaps you will not succeed in closing the gates at all, and Mehrunes Dagon will also be the great antagonist of the next expansion? You will likely have to wait for the answer.
