Shortly after release, players already found some Easter eggs in Dying Light 2. Some of them are even really useful, like drivable vehicles. Unfortunately, at least for a few of them, there seems to be no way to obtain them honestly.
What vehicles are there? Dying Light 2 offers plenty of secrets, such as hidden safes with valuable loot or Easter eggs. New videos and clips from players moving through the city with vehicles pop up on Reddit and YouTube all the time. So far, 3 have been found:
- the red bicycle
- a hoverboard like from Back to the Future
- a “flying broom”
What use do these vehicles have for me? At least with the bicycle, players are significantly faster than on foot. The two flying vehicles allow for a slower descent, similar to the parachute – but they consume stamina in the process.
The clips and videos excite fans. But they are now puzzling over how to obtain them. Most videos seem to use a trick, but all vehicles can apparently also be found honestly in the game.
Vehicles are hidden Easter eggs
Are the vehicles available legally in the game? For the hoverboard and the flying broom, you need to complete a few challenges and be good at parkour. The broom is a bit easier: complete the “Baba Yaga” challenge at the VNC Tower. However, you can only get there after reaching the Central Loop.
To get the hoverboard, you need to go to the Cathedral of St. Paul on Saint Paul Island. Climb the church and enter the bell tower. There, you need to complete a series of tasks:
- get a cable from the bottom of the tower
- power the box at the top
- go through a window one level down
- interact with the radio/device there
- pick up the first piece of the hoverboard that is lying there
- use the survival sense and follow the displayed red trail
- the second part is on the bridge in the southeastern corner of Muddy Grounds
- the third part is in a trunk in the southwestern corner of Muddy Grounds
The bicycle remains somewhat more mysterious. User Taki7o7 claims to know at least 2 locations in the game where bicycles can be found. In one video, he shows one leaning against a tree on a high-rise building. To get it, he apparently has to kill himself. Whether that is true, we cannot confirm.
How else can you get the vehicles? Since the vehicles are apparently made for challenges, they shouldn’t actually work in the open world. However, there is a trick here.
Dying Light 2 can be expanded through mods. Mods change certain game contents or bring new ones in. In this case, there is a mod that brings the developer menu into the game (via NexusMods).
Through the menu, you can activate cheats (like “back in the day”, no tools like from shooters), change decisions, or spawn items. This way, players have apparently discovered the vehicles and obtained them.
