You can achieve different endings in Dragon Age: The Veilguard depending on how you make decisions throughout the game. However, you will only have one option if you complete certain tasks beforehand. MyMMO reveals how you can see the secret ending.
Spoiler Warning: This is about the ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. We will reveal how to achieve the ending and what can be seen there. If you don’t want spoilers, you should not read further!
What is the secret ending? At the end of The Veilguard, you defeat the elven gods and must sever the connection to the Veil again. However, you need another god instead of the now-fallen one.
The only other tangible elven god is Solas, or the Dread Wolf, who accompanies you throughout the entire game. By default, you only have the options to fight him or trick him into binding himself to the Veil.
However, there is another option: If you have previously engaged with the story of Fen’Harel, you can “redeem” him. He will then voluntarily go into the Veil to atone. This requires some preparation.
Unlocking the Secret Ending – What You Need to Do
There are some prerequisites you must fulfill for the secret ending. Firstly, you need the “approval of the Dread Wolf.” You gain this by not being too hostile in conversations with Solas, instead showing him that you are willing to make tough decisions.
In addition, you must complete the quest “The Dread Wolf’s Regret.” You will receive this after you have found six wolf statues. One of these statues can be received during the campaign from the Inquisitor. The other five can be found in Solas’ memories at the Crossing.
Once you have all the statues, you need to place them on pedestals in the common room of the lighthouse. Each time, a cutscene will be triggered that provides important information about the Dread Wolf’s background.
After the sixth memory, you will be called back to the Crossing. There, Morrigan awaits you with the next part of the quest. She reveals that part of the elven goddess Mythal lives within her and a fragment of the goddess can be found at the Crossing.
To convince Solas to do the right thing, you will need Mythals help. Morrigan gives some hints on how to obtain it.
Convincing Mythal – This Is the Solution
If you follow the quest marker, you will find the ghostly elven woman in the designated area. You then have the opportunity to speak with her. If you choose a wrong answer, Mythal will get angry, and you will have to fight her in her dragon form.
This must not happen.
For the best ending, you must convince her without combat; only then will she assist you sufficiently later on. The following conversation options will lead to Mythal helping you:
- “I want Your help.”
- “We have to stop the corruption.” => “You have fought against it.”
- “We must stop the gods.” => “You have been wronged.”
- “Solas is helping me.” => “Forget him”
- “We are worthy.” => “It means creating a safe place.”
The fragment of Mythal will then feel “alive” instead of “painful,” and you will receive support from Mythal in the fight against the corrupted dragon and against Elgar’nan.
In the final decision of the game, you then have the option under “More” to convince Solas with the help of Mythals fragment.
Unlocking the Secret Cutscene – What You Need for That
In addition to Solas’ redemption, there is another secret. After the credits, there is a secret scene where a mysterious voice talks about their plans. Who exactly that is remains undisclosed.
To see this cutscene, you need to find three strange, floating discs in the game. The discs are located at the following positions:
- In the Arlathan forest in the east, where you fight against the construct and can find the unique item
Iron Veil
. - After the fight against the undead dragon in the necropolis as the conclusion of the quest “The Apex of Its Kind.”
- After the battle against the corrupted dragon at the Crossing as the conclusion of the quest “The Heart of Corruption.”
Getting the “Best Ending” for Solas – Here’s How
There is a third secret scene that you can only unlock under very specific conditions. In this scene, Solas is not only saved at the end; he goes into the Veil with his beloved to endure together.
To achieve this, you must make the right decisions during character creation. Once your character is created, you need to adjust your Inquisitor accordingly:
- The Inquisitor must be female and an elf.
- Solas must be designated as the Inquisitor’s partner.
- You must select that the Inquisitor tried to save Solas rather than hunt him.
Then, during the story, you must talk to the Inquisitor about Solas and convince him that Solas can be saved. For this scene, you will need the same prerequisites as for the “regular” secret ending.
At the end of The Veilguard, you will still have further options available, such as which companion takes on which tasks. Depending on how well you get along with your companions and how strong the factions have become, you will have a better or worse ending.
