The developers of Diablo Immortal present how the “transformation” of your hero works. You can radically change your looks through special equipment, but also completely change your class. Learn everything about it here on MeinMMO.
What kind of features are these? In a blog post by the developers, after we learned something about raids, various possibilities of “transformation” were presented. These are methods by which your hero can change radically over the course of the game.
Among them are the diverse cosmetics in the game. While they do not change your hero’s basic physique, they give him or her a unique look.
A feast for fans of cosmetics and those who want to try everything
How does it work with the cosmetics? A few examples from the developer blog show among other things a selection of heroes wearing a creepy, bloody armor set. In another image, a necromancer looks like a living lich lord.
According to plan, there will be a specific theme every month, after which cosmetics sets will be released. It’s also particularly cool that you can have special cosmetics as long as you belong to the rulers’ faction in PvP. However, these are only available as long as you can hold onto power.
In the game, you can also find and level up legendary gems. These stones are not just inconspicuous upgrades visible only in the menu. When you level up the gems, they change your appearance. You get spectral horns and even wings!
What’s the deal with class switching? The above examples all refer to transformation through altered appearance. However, there is another feature mentioned in the Blizzard blog entry that should certainly attract the attention of many fans.
Because until now, in Diablo games, if you wanted to test a different class, you had to create a completely new hero and start from scratch.
In Diablo Immortal, however, that’s no longer necessary. You can completely change your class at certain times in the game. According to the developers, you shouldn’t lose anything. Your stats, paragon level, achievements, and equipment will remain intact. You even get a starter set of gear that matches the new class.
The only thing you’ll need to acquire anew are legendary equipment pieces tailored to the class. But that “is part of the fun”.
But won’t classes become completely arbitrary? The developers have also asked themselves this question. In order to ensure that the class isn’t switched as casually as underwear and that the original choice retains value, the developers have also thought about this:
We want your original class choice to be a meaningful decision – not something you change from session to session. Therefore, we discussed the limits of this system, which should still allow you the freedom to try out new classes when we release new content. Since collecting legendary affixes is time-consuming, we expect that players who focus on a single class will have certain advantages, such as a greater selection of available character builds. But the fun of exploring each class freely should encourage many people to try different things over time, just as many of us on the team have already done.
The class switching is, by the way, expected to come with a later patch and will apparently not be part of the release version of Diablo Immortal.
