Diablo 4 celebrated its first anniversary on June 6. To celebrate, Blizzard has planned events that should give you more loot, free skins, and more experience. However, important information was already missing in advance – and then half of what everyone expected was absent.
This is what Blizzard has planned:
- Diablo 4 will receive two events for its 1st birthday: the March of the Goblins and the Blessing of the Mother. The festivities start on June 6. Anyone logging in from then on will receive free skins.
- The rewards are worth it: The March ensures that more treasure goblins spawn, even in duos and packs. The Blessing of the Mother increases experience according to Blizzard by +25% and received gold by +50% – however, both are stated as 35% in the game itself.
- Actually, these effects could stack excellently and even multiply. However, only half of the events will be active at release.
Where does the chaos come from? Blizzard has already announced the birthday in two parts: Part 1 is the March of the Goblins, Part 2 is the Blessing of the Mother. Here, players have already speculated what this could mean.
Because there are start and end times, but only partially:
- The March of the Goblins runs from June 6 to June 13.
- Free skins are available from June 6 to June 12 in the shop.
- You can claim the cosmetics until June 20.
So there is no known “end” to the celebrations. Additionally, no one has really known when exactly the blessing event will be active. It is supposed to last for 10 days, but the starting point is unclear. There are various speculations:
- The Blessing of the Mother and the March of the Goblin start simultaneously on June 6 at 7:00 PM.
- The Blessing starts only on June 14, just after the March – as “Part 2.”
- Or the event runs from June 10 to June 20, as one can secure the rewards until then.
What does Blizzard say about it? Blizzard has not answered this question since the announcement of the event. Now we at least know: the events do not start simultaneously because the Blessing of the Mother is currently not active. And other issues are causing frustration.

Anyone logging into Diablo 4 will be greeted with a screen for the birthday event. Here there is a button that directly redirects you to the shop to collect the rewards. Just that there was initially nothing to collect.
Only about half an hour after the start of the event are there free cosmetics in the “Anniversary” section. Or more precisely: One, namely only the steed “The Nightmare.” The weapon skins apparently come later.
You will be offered another skin in the shop every day at 9 PM. From the 13th onwards, you will presumably be able to collect all rewards at once until June 20, as far as the information from the shop is correct.
There was more criticism regarding the missing Blessing of the Mother. Here it was stated on X: It is a huge oversight that the events do not run simultaneously. One could have achieved much more; now it only feels half-hearted. Additionally, the goblins’ loot apparently does not work properly. The developers are already working on a solution (via X.com).
However, worse is that the communication has gone so poorly. Community Manager Adam Fletcher explained on X only about an hour before the event release – whose start time was also not known – that information about the Blessing of the Mother would not be expected until next week.
For many users on X and Reddit, this is quite a letdown. Particularly because Diablo 4 has been able to impress many people again with the new Season 4, who were rather disappointed with the previous development: “Imagine if it had been like this since release” – Season 4 impresses players because they can just play
