Season 1 started poorly in Diablo 4, but with Patch 1.1.1, several changes have been made. This includes the drop rate of the best items in Season 1. What those items are and what exactly has changed can be found here on MeinMMO.
What are the best items in Season 1? With Season 1, the seasonal mechanic of malevolent hearts was introduced. Gems became a thing of the past, as players can now socket bonuses into their armor with these hearts to become even more powerful.
One type, the wrathful hearts, was considered the rarest specimen that players could farm. Before the patch, players had only a 2% chance to craft a wrathful heart and only a 3% chance to get one of the wrathful type from a random drop. With Patch 1.1.1, Hotfix 6, this is now a thing of the past.
What has changed? Patch 1.1.1 brought important changes regarding the wrathful hearts and how easily you can obtain them, as detailed in the English patch notes (via wowhead.com):
- The drop rate and craft chance for Wrathful Hearts and Invokers has been increased.
- The previous chance to get a Wrathful Invoker from crafting an Uncertain Invoker was 3%.
- The chance is now 15%.
- Previous chance to get a Wrathful Heart from crafting an Uncertain Heart was 2%.
- The chance is now 10%.
- Wrathful Invokers now also have a chance to drop from elites in addition to other Invokers.
- The previous chance to get a Wrathful Invoker from crafting an Uncertain Invoker was 3%.
- Miscellaneous
- Further Stability improvements.
The chance to now craft a Wrathful Heart has been increased from 2% to 10%. Additionally, the chance to craft a Wrathful Invoker has also risen from 3% to 15%. Players now have a much higher chance to access the rarest hearts in Season 1.
What do players say about the changes? Many players on Reddit suggest crafting Invokers instead of hearts. Reddit user dernacle has listed the chances before and after the hotfix and shows how likely it is to obtain an Invoker or a heart of the wrathful type:
- Before hotfix
Chance 1 in 33 for a Wrathful Invoker
Chance 1 in 50 for a Wrathful Heart
- After hotfix
Chance 1 in 7 for a Wrathful Invoker
Chance 1 in 10 for a Wrathful Heart
If you still need Wrathful Hearts for your build, it’s better to go for the Invokers, as you have a much higher chance of obtaining one of the wrathful type.
