In Destiny 2, the community challenge has been completed. You have apparently impressed Calus greatly, but he overslept his engagement.
This is what the community event is about: Last Tuesday, Bungie launched a community challenge in Destiny 2. You got to complete several tasks together as Guardians on Mars, for which you had a week of time.
However, the full 7 days were not necessary. Already on Saturday evening, Bungie tweeted with amazement that you had successfully completed all tasks. The community challenge is now over:
How did the challenge go? In the challenge, you had to complete a total of 6 tasks in community efforts:
- Defeat 175,000 Escalation Protocol bosses from wave 7
- Defeat 300 million Hive enemies on Mars
- Defeat Nokris in the Mars Nightfall “The Hollowed Ground” 150,000 times
- Defeat Xol in the Mars Nightfall “Will of the Thousands” 100,000 times
- Use 300,000 override frequencies
The Nokris task proved to be particularly challenging. On Reddit, the Guardians motivated each other to focus entirely on Nokris. Ultimately, it was managed to complete the challenge at such an early stage, just after 4 challenge days.
What rewards are there now? If you completed a Nightfall strike during the challenge, you will receive these two rewards:
- a badge
- as well as additional rewards in the Menagerie. Cabal Emperor Calus is now putting on his generous pants and giving more loot for successful Menagerie completions. At the end of the challenge, there are supposed to be two guaranteed rewards, and every Friday in September, an additional reward will be added.
In other words, there should be 2 rewards when opening the chest in the Menagerie. And on September 13th, 20th, and 27th, an additional reward will be added each time. By the end of September, Calus will be particularly generous and will grant a total of 5 rewards.
When you will receive the badge (if you played the Nightfall) remains to be seen. The Menagerie extra rewards are probably for all Guardians – whether you completed a Nightfall or not.
The Problem with Calus
What has Calus done this time? Calus is the former Emperor of the Cabal, who has been relaxing on the massive world-eater “Leviathan” since the launch of Destiny 2 and invites you to raid.
After Bungie announced yesterday that Calus was impressed by you and had unlocked additional rewards in the Menagerie, they found a problem. Apparently, the reward increase was not functioning. They are trying to solve the issue early next week.
Community Manager dmg04 intervened and explained via Twitter that they are on the weekend and that this problem likely requires deeper investigations. But only 2 hours later, he tweeted: “We may have a fix for the Menagerie rewards.”
The official Bungie account has now stated a few hours ago that the bonus Menagerie rewards should now be functioning correctly. Calus overslept, but he did not forget your reward.
You can now go to the Menagerie and see if Calus keeps his word and grants extra rewards.
