In Destiny 2, you can get a shotgun during the Solstice of Heroes 2021 for a minute and solve a riddle about a hidden cat. We show you what secret lies deep beneath the European Aerial Zone.
This secret is about: The event “Solstice of Heroes” runs until August 3rd in Destiny 2. Only during this period can you enter the area European Aerial Zone. Here, you fight against bosses, collect Solstice chests, and you can also find a little secret: a cat.
The cat, more specifically the cat statue, has been hiding deep beneath the Shattered City and has been posing riddles to Guardians since 2019. If you find the petrified house cat, you will unlock a legendary shotgun and an event triumph. Here’s how to find the cat: Finding the cat, claiming the triumph, and grabbing the weapon takes you only a minute if you know where to look:
- Start the event activity “European Aerial Zone” (EAZ) in the Tower.
- Directly when the round starts, you spawn on some floating rocks, your goal is straight ahead and to the left.
- You will see a long crack in the ground just before the actual arena on the left side.
- Jump into the spot where a tree lies across.
- Let yourself fall one level down and look straight ahead, you will see a drainage pipe.
- In the tunnel, keep left, you will see a teleporter – do not use it!
- Continue exploring the dark room, on the wall you will see the cat statue, which you can interact with:
Now use the teleporter and kindly help your team complete the run in the EAZ.

Where is the shotgun? You will receive the promised shotgun as soon as you redeem the triumph “Solstice Catnip”. You get it when you interact with the cat in the EAZ. Then check the triumphs menu under “Season of the Splicer” and select Solstice on the far right. And voila, the shotgun will wander into your inventory – this only works once.
The legendary Void shotgun is called the Retold Tale. The weapon has a 65 rate of fire, precision frame, and high range. Important: it is not a slug shotgun like the exotic Chaperone, but a weapon with spread.
Bungie loves giving Guardians animal riddles
Since 2019, the cat deep beneath the EAZ has caused busy riddle-solving. At that time, nothing was left untried, even the damned 15th wish was supposed to be solved thanks to the cat. But the solution to the riddle has not been found – until today, the cat has kept its shotgun to itself.
This confuses players: The Retold Tale actually belongs to the weapon arsenal of the Dreaming City. With Season 13, the weapon has been overhauled and has received new perks and an endless infusion cap.
It’s somewhat strange for Bungie to give the Guardians a weapon from the Dreaming City, especially since the Solstice has also received a new shotgun as an event weapon: Windrose is also a 65 precision shotgun for the energy slot.
However, an explanation for the “Dreaming City” weapon in the EAZ can be quickly found: There are cat statues hiding in the Dreaming City as well. However, these are smaller and want a gift from the Guardians, not the other way around.
