When Destiny 2 sealed the fate of the Tangled Shore, it also marked the end of the gunrunner Spider. His role was taken over by Master Rahool, the serious Cryptarch. However, since the “legalization,” trading has become only half as enjoyable. The Destiny 2 lore expert Andy Edition is therefore investigating in his latest video the fate of Spider and the possibility of his return.
It wasn’t that long ago that the Guardians could visit the Fallen “Spider” in the Tangled Shore. He was, alongside Xur, the second mysterious trader in the game and had secured the reputation of being one of the coolest merchants in the Destiny universe since Forsaken.
He became particularly known for his shady deals in a Mafia-like fashion. Those who traded with him knew they owed Spider a favor afterward.
Additionally, the eight-armed black market boss had the coolest curiosities on offer that every Guardian would have loved to buy all at once:
- Before the return of the Gjallarhorn, Spider offered the “Midnight Special.” A kind of fake Gjallarhorn that only he had at the time. He wanted 20 exotic engrams for it.
- A ghost for 999,999 Glimmer, who sat in a cage and wanted to be released.
- A seed ghost, the origin of a war mind, for a proud 5 seeds of light.
- A map with coordinates beyond the solar system, which should be paid for with 5 Hermion flower fossils.
- The key to the personal quarters of the executioner Hideo for 500 dark fragments.
- And a Hadium Flake, a material from Destiny 1 that does not exist in the second part.
After the release of Witch Queen, the Tangled Shore and Spider became a victim of the content vault and his fate became unknown from that point onward.
That’s why Spider is missed now: Initially, Guardians were glad that Spider’s trading was moved to the Tower. This ended the constant back-and-forth flying to the Tangled Shore and back when cash was tight.
Master Rahool does sell his goods, but the deals with him are only half as interesting because they are legal.
What exactly happened to Spider? The Guardians were unable to find any trace of Spider just before the servers were shut down and the Tangled Shore was deactivated as a destination. Did he escape beforehand?
