There is a place in Destiny 2 that could be summed up with the motto “Die laughing.” Especially new players are gladly taken there with a broad grin, because thanks to some really nasty traps, this activity is a feast for the laughing muscles.
What activity is it? The nasty, yet funny activity is the dungeon “Sog der Habsucht” from the 30-Year DLC of Destiny 2. It is in this week’s dungeon rotation for top loot, which means: Watch out, you might fall into a trap!
Upon entering this dungeon, one is lured by the numerous yellow exo-engrammes. They lie everywhere, and you want to take them all. But beware! These engrammes explode, and the dungeon also turns brave guardians into nasty saboteurs, as it is the perfect trial by fire for unsuspecting Destiny newcomers.
MeinMMO shows you why.
Many funny ways to bite the dust
The perfect trial by fire for “Blueberries”: In Destiny, it is tradition to properly introduce unsuspecting guardians to the game. The old loot box trick in raids is a quite popular trial by fire for new players.
- Unaware, one is sent to imaginary boxes in a somewhat too deep gorge and learns: “Don’t jump without thinking! Especially not when someone tells you to.”
What exactly are blueberries in Destiny 2?
“Blueberries” is what Destiny 2 veterans call new players because they appear as a blue dot (not allied) on the map and their first gear in the game is also fully blue. A newcomer can be recognized at first glance by veteran players.
The dungeon “Sog der Habsucht” raises the options for trials by fire for unsuspecting blueberries even further, as its traps are simply too good and not so clumsy.
It exploits the fact that every guardian in Destiny 2 cannot resist when “Activate” or “Interact” is written at a door. Levers, mechanisms, and things that need to be opened are not dangerous after all. Or are they?
At first, one feels safe. The two experienced teammates know their way around. But already the next step shows that everything wants to kill you.
- Right in the first area, a “Click” is enough and Bang! Your character is impaled by sharp spikes. Really nasty when you overlook such a trap on the ground.
- Then there are levers that obviously only open a door. However, if you run into it, a falling panel claps down, and that will be the last thing you see.
- If you even remotely think: “Ha!, now I know every trick here!” you will shortly after be shot out of a corridor like a cannonball, only to then get your head stuck in a wall.
- Even more suspicious, however, is when your teammates next to you say: “You have to go in there.” with approving nods, but then do not come along and instead subtly take two steps to the left and right. Just while you wonder “Wha…..?”, a huge stone ball rolls over you. Just like you would see it in Indiana Jones movies.
Yes, it cannot be denied: This dungeon is a tough trial by fire for unsuspecting guardians. And at the latest after half, you no longer trust anything in this activity. Suddenly you walk a little slower and look around searchingly, while you watch your teammates with slit eyes and wonder: “Come on, you know exactly where I must not step.”
The good news; So far everyone has made it through. But from floorplates that make you fall into the depths to sophisticated trap mechanisms, there is truly everything on this path. You get crushed, impaled, hacked to pieces, shot away, rolled over, or blown up by ticking time bombs. But it is also incredibly fun.
While only the initiated often have something to laugh about, especially in the “Sog der Habsucht,” the connection between teamwork and Schadenfreude is taken to a new level.
But this is also an experience that many won’t forget anytime soon and from which people will talk for a long time. Because among the greatest treasures in Destiny 2 is not the loot, but exactly such unforgettable laughs and the memories of a nasty constant dying with friends in a game that has brought so many players together over the years.
And don’t forget: Don’t hold it against the saboteurs. Sooner or later, everyone goes from being a novice to being initiated and can then also have fun with new players. Even if this article might have forewarned a part of them.
Have you ever taken other players into this “trap dungeon” and intentionally withheld a small but important piece of information here and there with a grin? Or do you have other things you like to do with still unsuspecting teammates in Destiny 2? Then tell us your funniest actions in the comments now.
