Shadowkeep introduces a new Nightfall mode. This will soon allow players to specifically farm Exotics. However, the path to this is not entirely easy.
How do you currently obtain Exotics? At the launch of Destiny 2, exotic items were not really rare and were almost thrown at players. Their actual purpose was therefore lost on many Guardians.
However, with the launch of Forsaken, the situation changed – exotic items became extremely rare. Only later in Year 2 did it become easier to obtain Forsaken Exotics, as the vendor Xur sold some of them.
Bungie now wants to revise the system again and create a way to farm Exotics.
How can you farm Exotics in Shadowkeep? Shadowkeep will not only offer brand new activities and exotic quests. There will also be a direct source for farming exotic items. However, players must be brave and prove themselves worthy in the new Nightfall mode “The Trial” by completing it on the Legendary or Master difficulty. This was revealed by the developers in a new video.
A new source for Exotics in Shadowkeep
This is how the new Nightfall mode works: The Nightfall mode “The Trial” represents a new variant of the Nightfalls. Here, players encounter particularly tough Champion enemies and must prove their strength. To keep up with the new adversaries, Bungie introduces seasonal artifacts. These are meant to help players with the power grind for the new endgame activities.
Because with loot alone, you can only reach a maximum of 960 Power Level. However, with the artifact, you can break this limit and rise in power unbounded.
The Nightfall mode comes with a total of 4 difficulty levels:
- Adept – Power Level 750 is recommended
- Hero – Power Level 920 is recommended
- Legend – Power Level 950 is recommended
- Master – Power Level 980 is recommended
In the video, you can clearly see the rewards for the Legend and Master difficulty levels. At both levels, there are Exotics as rewards for the player. These Exotics are marked as common and should drop quite reliably from the new activity. Thus, the developers create a direct source for Exotics where you can specifically farm them.
At the Legend difficulty, you can see that other rewards such as the Enhancement Prisms are “Uncommon”, meaning unusual and rarer. Exotics should drop quite frequently in the tough activities.
Weaker players also have a chance: The video does not show whether there are exotic rewards at the Adept and Hero difficulty levels. However, according to the developers’ comment, it will also be possible to obtain Exotics at the lower difficulties. The chance for this is, however, lower than at the higher difficulty levels.
What’s the idea behind this? Bungie wants to ensure that players can not only choose higher difficulty levels in the future but also be rewarded for it. Therefore, those who improve their characters and master difficult activities should be appropriately rewarded. This is why these Exotics drops are especially available at the higher difficulty levels of the new Nightfall mode, for which you have to significantly increase your power level.
