As soon as Savathun, the main character from the latest DLC in Destiny 2, is free, she is already getting cheeky. Right after her escape, the Witch Queen takes over the Bungie Twitter account and announces that she is ready for a new form. The Guardians find it cool and engage in a literal exchange of words with the cheeky witch.
Who is the new Twitter queen? The latest expansion of Destiny 2 revolves around Savathun. She is one of the three Wyrm Gods and aims to understand the deepest secrets of the universe. She gains her power from the deception and confusion of those who try to understand her unfathomable plans. This also seems to apply to Twitter.
However, she now regrets her former pact with the Worm Gods. She wanted to be free again, and for that, she was willing to use any means, even a pact with her former enemies.
On Tuesday, Destiny 2 held the finale of Season 15. In a new mission, the Guardians had to protect the two queens while Mara Sov removed the worm from Savathun. However, this did not go as planned, and unfortunately, the Witch Queen managed to escape. Shortly thereafter, Bungie’s Twitter messages changed. Savathun herself took over the official Bungie account and cheekily announced in a reply:
So many of you blinked at the ceiling! Should I have said ‘Watch out’?
Savathun is cunning and cheeky: It seems that nothing has changed about her cunning nature since the ‘Worm Exorcism.’ Savathun continues to hit the right spot with her sharp tongue and makes it clear that she should not be underestimated for a second. Anyway, the Witch Queen seems to have a ‘real lulu of a plan’.
The Guardian RogertheBackman takes it in humor and counters: ‘I would say about a third of us looked up…’ referencing the Titan class.
The community is enthusiastically involved: The community finds it great and seizes the opportunity for a direct exchange with the enemy – or friend?
The account Twitter-Gaming wanted to know if the exorcised queen was doing well. To which she replied: ‘Better than ever!’. In a later reply to stonesandsnakes, she further cheekily and somewhat disparagingly adds, about Osiris, whom she used as a vessel:
I left nothing valuable behind, just a few rags shaped like a man… but I’m sure you will put him back together.
Other players even made a bizarre offer to protect the worm-free queen, like the player TheNazgul.
However, the Witch Queen seems to have no interest in that and replies: ‘I have worked so hard to free myself from my worm. I’m looking for no replacement.’ and indirectly refers to the Guardian as a worm in her typically sardonic manner.
But the Witch Queen is not only cheeky, but apparently also thinks of herself as perfectly flawless, as she herself states: ‘Being flawless is only difficult if you have flaws yourself.’
Even now, the Witch Queen continues tweeting away and clearly enjoys challenging the Guardians. It almost seems like she is quite confident. Griffin Bennett, the social lead at Bungie, has already stated that they are working to get the studio’s Twitter account back.
If you want to ask her anything, you should quickly stop by Twitter and demand an audience with the eloquent queen.
Is the Witch Queen sending secret messages on Twitter?
Besides the entertaining exchange, some Guardians in the raidsecret subreddit have noticed a few other details of this paracausal Twitter corruption. Not only messages are going through the account. The biography of the account has also been adjusted.
The player tacticutie took the effort and has documented the changes to the account with an online tool.
In the process, several sentences that were changed one after the other stood out.
- ‘There is nothing but the deep ocean above’
- ‘A tower full of untruths that leads to the truth’
- ‘It’s time to be honest with yourself: You have lost.’
Did Savathun also have her fingers in this pie? Currently, you can’t read anything like that in the biography because it has been changed back.
It is quite possible that we will receive more cryptic messages from a Witch Queen who enjoys her new freedom in every way until next Tuesday, and that she will give no answers easily. At least the Guardians now have a rough idea of what to expect. Or do they not, Savathun?
