Bungie is planning adjustments to the Masterwork Weapons in Destiny 2. Additionally, Masterwork armor pieces are on the way!
Update 1.1.1.1 introduced the Masterwork Weapons in mid-December 2017. These are legendary guns that grant bonus weapon stats and generate Spheres of Light on multi-kills that you can use yourself. The Masterworks are slightly better versions of the “normal” legendary weapons, which you can grind for to make your Guardian a few percentage points stronger.
The Masterworks are generally well-received by the Guardians. They give Guardians who want to optimize their character new reasons to log in regularly. However, there is one disadvantage: You need to bring a lot of luck to obtain Masterworks. They are purely based on chance – and since they are already quite rare, you can sometimes play for days without obtaining a single Masterwork.
Therefore, Bungie wants to ensure that you find more Masterwork Weapons in the game in the future.
Changes to the Masterworks
In a detailed forum post, Community Manager dmg04 addresses the Masterworks. They have read a lot of community feedback on these items and would now like to list the things that will soon change.
There is no specific date for the changes yet, but here is an overview of the upcoming Masterwork revisions:
- A mechanic will be introduced to prevent long periods without obtaining Masterworks. This is intended to counteract extreme loot bad luck.
- They are exploring options for creating guaranteed sources for Masterworks. Currently, they are also working on improving the rewards of the prestige activities. Guaranteed Masterworks may be tied to this.
- Bungie will adjust the drop rates and the material costs for re-rolling after the holidays.
- In the future, Bungie wants to adjust or expand the stat bonuses of the Masterworks. You can find a list of possible stat bonuses depending on the weapon type here.
- Masterwork armor pieces are now also on the agenda. Work has begun on this. However, the bonuses will be slightly less significant than those on weapons. This allows you to change the armor stat type.
- Furthermore, Bungie is working on a fix to ensure that Masterwork cores are reliably sent to the Postmaster when you dismantle Masterworks and your inventory is full.
Additionally, there are three bits of information regarding mods for weapons and armor pieces:
- They are listening to all the feedback regarding weapon mods and armor mods
- They are looking for ways to address inventory overcrowding
- Mods want to become more significant for your loadout.
