In Destiny 2, the release of the major expansion Beyond Light is still a while away. What reasons does the Season of Arrival offer Guardians to log in until then?
This is what players are looking forward to: In the fall, the Destiny year traditionally reaches its peak. Then the major expansions come and set the tone for the upcoming seasons. This is also the case in 2020, unfortunately Beyond Light has been postponed from September to November 10.
Alongside the postponement, the Season 11 has been extended and the roadmap adjusted. Since the final exotic quest went live in the Season of Arrival, many Guardians are now wondering: “Is there more to come?”
MeinMMO takes a look at what will keep you entertained until the release of Beyond Light and how severe the drought will be.
What Bungie has confirmed for the Season of Arrival
Here we count content and events that Bungie has mentioned on the roadmap or already introduced in blog posts.
Festival of the Lost: Halloween is also celebrated in Destiny and is difficult to reschedule date-wise. Therefore, the annual event will take place in Season 11.
From October 6 to November 3, the following events are planned:
- dressing up and scaring
- chasing new triumphs
- probably visiting the Haunted Forest again
Data miners have already dug up the appearance of many event items and even costumes:
Moments of Triumph 2020: With the Moments of Triumph, Destiny celebrates its 6th year and allows you to chase many rewards. The event is already in full swing and has been extended until the release of Beyond Light.
Unfortunately, new activities are not waiting for you.
- You only have more time to unlock in-game items like titles and emblems to show off
- By achieving certain milestones, you can earn codes for the Bungie Store, to use on goodies like a ring or shirts
Boni for existing activities: Bungie announced that they want to make familiar missions and modes more attractive with a series of bonuses. We now know the first bonus: Since the weekly reset on September 15, Bungie has been generously distributing loot for a week.
It has also been confirmed that further bonuses will follow. So if you want to stock up on rare resources for Beyond Light or climb ranks in the Crucible and Gambit, you have a few reasons to log in.
Additional Iron Banner events: Normally, the Iron Banner takes place about 3 times in a season. Bungie announced that you can expect additional visits from Lord Saladin. So if you are looking for strong armor and improved mods, you have a few extra chances.
What else could come before Beyond Light drops
What about the secret final boss? Some time ago, a player found the lost son of Oryx in the Interference missions. Currently, these missions only repeat weekly and we probably won’t see any changes until just before the season finale.
By the way, the discoverer also found further details but was banned for unfair methods.
Will there be a live event as a finale? At the end of Season 11, Destiny hosted its first live event. We could watch together from the Tower as a massive spaceship crashed and was blasted to bits by millions of rockets – The falling debris narrowly missed the despised cash shop.
Players know such spectacles from Fortnite and it was also well received by Guardians. Your criticism, however, was that it lasted too long and should be considerably shortened. Bungie has already hinted that this first attempt was an experiment and they take the feedback to heart.
It is possible that a live event crowns Season 11. Because we already know that darkness is swallowing numerous planets and have therefore evacuated half the universe. To build up the drama for Beyond Light and stage the darkness as the ultimate enemy, such a live event would be fitting.
The upcoming bonuses are sure nice, but unfortunately, not much more. A secret mission modeled after the Whisper or the Perfected Outbreak would be great, but currently seems very unlikely – but we certainly wouldn’t say no to that.
What do you think, what could still await us in Season 11? What do you do when the Destiny butter is spread too thinly? The next few weeks Bungie will likely use to look ahead and present more about Beyond Light.
At least we now know more about the new Stasis subclasses and the appearance of some items is already known – even though this partly causes annoyance in Destiny 2.
