Machine guns have not been the Guardians’ first choice for pure boss damage in PvE of Destiny 2 for a while now. However, that might have changed with “Retrofit Escapade” from Season 19. The MG not only fires mega fast, but it also clears everything easily with the right traits – even dungeon bosses. MeinMMO tells you how to get it.
This takes away some of the weapon’s dominance. Still, it is not entirely useless. With the perks shown here, it remains strong and shreds enemies in seconds.
What makes the weapon so good? “Retrofit Escapade” is the new Seraph Void machine gun from the ongoing Season 19. It has a fire rate of 900 and fires extremely quickly. But it also effectively utilizes two other advantages.
- The weapon perk “Targeting” gives you a damage bonus of 17% when you hit the same target for a few seconds. The damage increases to 40% at a continuous rate of fire.
- “Retrofit Escapade” also deals Void damage and can thus be perfectly combined with “Volatile Rounds” from Season 16. This makes the weapon even better, as additional hits on volatile enemies cause the target to explode further. This effect is overwhelming on the weapon, to say the least.
- If you also play a Void Hunter and the exotic “Falcon’s Deception,” the weapon automatically gets “Volatile Rounds” after you’ve gone invisible and causes additional bonus damage. In PvE, this is a damage bonus of 35% that lasts for 5 seconds.
All this currently results in a hellishly good machine gun that you shouldn’t miss out on and even casts Linear Fusion Rifles in the shadow in many places.
So anyone who makes the effort to obtain the blueprint for the weapon not only gets a weapon with high damage but also one that offers practical versatility and great ammunition economy. Fun factor included.
Initial damage tests are overwhelming: The player TeeGlizzy conducted damage tests on the Ogre in the “Siphon of Greed” dungeon and presented them on Reddit:
- After his tests, the exotic sniper rifle “Cloudstrike” with catalyst dealt about 600,000 damage.
- The God roll of the legendary Linear Fusion Rifle “Reed’s Regret” comes out to about 750,000 damage.
- However, his crafted machine gun “Retrofit Escapade” dealt a whopping 1.5 million damage and even had ammunition left over.
However, some players in the Destiny Reddit don’t believe that this can be intended by Bungie, especially since there should normally be a delay between the volatile explosions.
In the Reddit, the Guardian krokenlochen explains:
Normally, there’s a delay between volatile explosions on a single target. However, with a fast weapon and a decent damage buff, or stacking with [the grenade launcher] Withering Collector, you can keep the volatile explosions up continuously […] and deal more damage.
writes krokenlochen in the Destiny Reddit
So if Bungie doesn’t adjust anything here, the Void machine gun “Retrofit Escapade” could become a real high-end DPS option after the damage rebalancing of heavy weapons in the upcoming Lightfall DLC, especially since Linear Fusion Rifles are supposed to be nerfed by 10 – 20%.
How to build the machine gun “Retrofit Escapade”
Currently, players can relatively easily obtain the machine gun. You can either buy it at the Exo Frame in the H.E.L.M. or play the seasonal activities. In doing so, you either need to hope for a perfect luck drop or better yet get a red frame weapon to tune. Once you have received 5 tuneable Depth weapons, you can craft the machine gun as a God roll.
We recommend building the MG with the following perk combination:
- “Arrowhead Brake”: Significantly controls recoil, increases handling speed.
- “Tactical Magazine”: Offers several tactical improvements.
- “All Good Things Are Four” (improved): Scoring 4 precision hits gives 2 rounds back into the magazine. Resets if no precision hits are scored within 2 seconds. With the improved perk, the timer between precision hits is extended.
- “Targeting” (improved): Damage increases the longer this weapon stays on the target.
- Masterwork: Stability.
- Weapon mod: “Boss Spec” – Increased damage against bosses and vehicles.
If you want to increase the magazine capacity even further, you can use “Extended Magazine” instead of “Tactical Magazine”. This allows you to fire almost 200 more rounds before you need to reload.
Have you already been able to unlock the blueprint of the new machine gun? Then feel free to let us know in the comments what you think of the new DPS secret tip and whether you also believe that this is much too good to be true.
At least the damage values of this machine gun are no fake, as the subscription service leak:
