With Season 1 came the Battle Pass in CoD: Black Ops 6, which offers players numerous rewards. However, those who dig deeper into their pockets can secure permanent XP bonuses. This has not been well received by some fans.
What should one spend money on? In CoD: BO6 there are two different types of Battle Pass. The regular version costs around €10, while the large version called “BlackCell” costs a whopping €30. With the BlackCell Pass, you will receive among other things:
- Additional skin variants for your operators
- More weapon skins
- A BlackCell clan tag
- 1,100 CoD points that you can spend in the shop
In addition to the bonuses that you can unlock by playing matches, you also receive a “Loyalty Bonus” on top. The more often you purchase the expensive BlackCell Pass in the upcoming seasons, the larger XP bonuses you will receive.
What bonuses do you receive? With each new season in CoD: BO6, there is a fresh BlackCell Pass. The more you purchase the Pass in the upcoming seasons, the larger XP bonuses you will receive for your player level and your weapons. However, you only receive the 10% XP boost once you purchase the BlackCell Pass in two seasons.
A post on X shows the bonuses at a glance. The developers write: “New BlackCell loyalty bonus: Players who purchase two (or more) BlackCell seasons in #BlackOps6 will receive an additional 10% player and weapon XP boost, which stacks with each additional season purchased.“
“The price makes it easy to abstain”
What do players say about it? The “Loyalty Bonus” is not well received by many players of CoD: BO6. In a post on Reddit, KNEXIUM writes that it is “really disgusting and disrespectful”. And DisaronnoSwigs comments: “God, I hope people realize this soon and stop spending money on things that offer no valuable return.”
Others find the BlackCell Pass, apart from the XP bonuses, not worth it. RedEye-55 writes: “I don’t even think the BlackCell items look appealing. The price makes it even easier to pass on them.”
Some find the “Loyalty Bonus” not so bad and note: One does not have to buy the Pass. wetmeatlol thinks it’s cool for those who plan to buy BlackCell every season anyway. It is an additional bonus for them. “The only ridiculous part for me is that you get the highest XP boost at the end of the game’s life cycle when most people are already (almost) max level,” he adds in the comment.
Why are XP bonuses helpful? In Black Ops 6, collecting XP plays a big role because in the new Prestige system, you can reach up to max level 55 at each prestige level, and then as a Prestige Master ultimately grind for up to 1,000 additional levels.
With each level, you unlock weapons, perks, and killstreaks that you lose when you progress in prestige level. Then the grind starts all over again. While you retain the weapon levels you have unlocked, you only receive some weapons at a high level.

At the beginning of Season 1, the developers accidentally introduced a small error with the XP bonuses. Suddenly, players had hundreds of XP tokens that apparently carried over from previous CoD titles into Black Ops 6. Once this was noticed, the error was patched out. After strong reactions from the community, the developers announced that they are working on a solution. Until then, they advised players to activate the tokens in Warzone, which would then apply to the whole game. With the bonuses from the BlackCell Pass, players can level up faster and secure the strong weapons again – if they want to spend the money.
