Just under a week after the release of Black Ops 6, the first players have reached Prestige Master, but Activision apparently did not crown the fastest team as the winner of the official race.
What kind of race was that? In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 there was the so-called “Race to Prestige”. This was a race that was streamed live on Twitch, in which the participating teams tried to be the first to reach the rank of Prestige Master. Thus, the race was tied to the level system of Black Ops 6.
To achieve this, players from the participating teams took turns for days, continuously playing the latest Call of Duty. However, when the winner was crowned, there was criticism from the community: Activision crowned a winner, but the fastest team was not invited to the race and consequently received no prize despite their success.
The fastest team, but not the winner
What is the story behind the “real winner”? On October 31, the race ended and Activision officially announced the winner: “Pits Team”. In second and third place were “Doom” and “Hard Stuck Iridescent”.
The Call of Duty community, however, was not satisfied with the winner, as there was apparently a team that was faster: the team of the French Twitch streamer Punkill. This team claimed to be two levels ahead of the winners “Pits Team” at the end of the race (via X.com).
However, Punkill’s team was not invited by Activision to the “Race to Prestige” and thus did not qualify for the official ranking.
The team of the esports organization OpTic, which included CoD legend Scump, also did not participate in the official race, but celebrated reaching Prestige Master shortly before the announcement of the winner (via X.com).
How do you become a Prestige Master? In Black Ops 6, you can climb 55 levels and unlock various weapons and equipment along the way. After these 55 levels, you can transition into the rank of “Prestige 1”. However, once you are Prestige 1, your level resets and you must unlock the weapons you earned again.
In Prestige 1, you can then complete another 55 levels and subsequently achieve “Prestige 2”. This resets your progress once again. This principle can be repeated multiple times. There are a total of 10 Prestige levels. After level 10, you reach the rank of Prestige Master. By that time, you must have earned over 500 levels.
