In Call of Duty: Warzone players complain about technical issues – Now they believe a weapon is to blame

Call of Duty brought back a legendary weapon with Season 3, but it seems to be causing issues in Warzone.

What is the problem in Warzone? In Call of Duty: Warzone, there has been increasing criticism from players for several days, stating that the FPS (frames per second) drop randomly (via Reddit).

This affects the gameplay flow and the quality of matches played by affected players. Significant drops also cause the game to stutter momentarily. Generally, every shooter player wants to avoid low FPS, because as we all know: frames win games.

Players are convinced that a meta weapon is causing FPS drops

What does the weapon have to do with the problems? Some players noticed that the issues could be related to a specific weapon: the Grau 5.56. The rifle seems to cause FPS drops when firing, particularly when you equip it with the Monolithic Suppressor.

A player mentioned on Reddit that his FPS would drop by about 31%. Instead of 200 FPS, he only had 138 FPS when shooting with the Grau.

The problem, however, is that this combination is currently a fixed part of the meta of CoD: Warzone and is being used by many players. It is currently considered one of the strongest weapons in the game.

The Grau returned with the start of Season 3 to Warzone, as a rebuild kit for the SWAT 5.56. The rebuild turns the previously semi-automatic DMR into a fully automatic assault rifle with low recoil. Initially, the CR-56 AMAX was supposed to dominate the meta, but since the rifle has been nerfed, the Grau is perhaps the most popular assault rifle in the game.

How can you protect yourselves from FPS drops? There are two ways to protect yourselves from FPS drops caused by the Grau:

1. Play another weapon, such as the KRIG-C, the CR-56 AMAX, or the Kilo 141
2. Equip a different muzzle:

The problems currently occur only in combination with the Monolithic Suppressor. If you instead equip the Compensator, you should not experience FPS drops.
