In blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 there are issues with windows. Some windows can even prevent seemingly guaranteed kills. What is going on?
What happened? Windows in the Battle Royale mode of Black Ops 4 can turn out to be a much bigger obstacle than one might expect, despite being shot at. Some windows are real bullet sponges and can even decide victory and defeat.
The YouTuber CompletelyKnife conducted tests in some custom matches and recorded the issues on video. He then raised awareness on Reddit. Subsequently, the developers responded.
What is the problem with the windows in blackout? Normally, windows should break on the first shot and let the projectile through. However, as the video shows, some windows behave almost like bulletproof glass.
Often, they do not shatter as expected on the first shot, but can absorb up to 5 projectiles from a rifle or submachine gun. Only then can you finally inflict damage to the opponent you are shooting at through the glass.
However, this is not the case for all windows. Some only need 2-3 shots before they break, while others allow the first shot to go through and cause the glass to shatter. Why this is still unknown. Some speculate that this phenomenon occurs when you stand too close to the windows.

What does this mean for players? This can indeed become a problem for players and can determine victory or defeat. For example, when shooting at a running opponent through a window, they may already be gone before the glass even breaks and lets the first projectile through.
Thus, faulty windows can deny seemingly safe kills, which can be crucial in the final stages of a match.
How the developers are responding: When the discussion about this phenomenon arose, developers from Treyarch also spoke out on Reddit.
Senior Game Designer Matt Scronce stated that the issue was already known and they had even been working on the incorrectly breaking glass as part of the recent updates. However, this week they aim to conduct further investigations and provide fixes.
Players should not have to endure this problem for much longer, as Treyarch usually responds to such issues very quickly. However, no exact date was given.
By the way, Blackout will soon get a new mode that focuses more on stealth than action – and this is how the new Ambush mode works.
