When does Season 3 start? The developers behind Battlefield 2042 have been very sparse with information about Season 3. Neither a release date nor information regarding content has been revealed until now. The official start date for Season 3 is now set for November 22. A more precise time is not yet known.
Additionally, DICE has now also introduced upcoming content, changes to existing maps, and weapons that you will experience in Escalation. Therefore, we will show you what to expect.

What new content will be released? Since Season 3 already has a start date, the new content must also be included. The contents include:

This is what the new map looks like in Season 3: The new map is located in Sweden and is called “Spearhead.” In this area, you are surrounded by green terrain, where large factories of a futuristic company are located.
You can wander through the large factories and discover the yellow manufacturing robots, and even use them as cover.
The new map is just as big as the well-known map “Stranded.” However, if you are more interested in the landscape, you can use the rock formations and hills to your advantage in battle.
What can the new weapons do? In total, there are three new weapons that you can acquire at the release of Season 3. These differ significantly from the known weapons, as they are built more futuristically and even use electromagnetic projectiles. Here’s what to expect:
- Rorsch MK-4 – Is a rifle with multiple fire modes and electromagnetic projectiles that have a high destructive power.
- NVK-S22 – Is a double-barreled semi-automatic shotgun with many customization options.
- NVK-P125 – Is a semi-automatic pistol with a long barrel that can cover great distances.
Adjustments to old maps: The development team has looked at the community’s feedback and has started working on polishing the large maps “Manifest” and “Breakaway.”
These have not only received graphical updates but also complete adjustments on the maps themselves. Obstacles or buildings were completely removed, rearranged, or moved.
More cover has been added, and some areas have been made more open so that you can get a better overview of the battlefields from high ground.
Specialists will be revised: The Specialists will also receive a revision later in Season 3. DICE has decided to bring back the class system and embed the specialists within it.
- Each class will receive class items and gadgets that you can customize.
- Each class will have advantages for specific weapons
- Scouts can hold their breath longer with snipers.
Battlefield 2042 is free for a limited time: At the beginning of December, the development team will let you test the shooter for free in conjunction with Season 3.
The test phases last about a weekend and allow you to briefly peek into the world of the well-known shooter. Here are the dates you should keep an eye on:

- Steam: December 1 – 5, 2022
- PlayStation: December 16 – 23, 2022
