WoW Classic starts in April with Phase 4. This will introduce a popular raid and the emerald dragon world bosses. Additionally, the fishing competition in Stranglethorn Vale is returning.
What to expect in Phase 4? On April 16, the next major content update for WoW Classic will be released. There are 3 major changes planned, which were announced in the official forum:
- Zul’Gurub
- The fishing competition in Stranglethorn Vale
- The dragons of Nightmare
The update is scheduled to go live on April 16 at 00:01 our time across all realms.
Especially look forward to the new raid. It is the first 20-man raid in Classic and will also bring a special mount.
New Challenge and Rare Reward
What is special about Zul’Gurub? The ancient and mysterious troll city Zul’Gurub brings with it, according to the official description, 120 new rare and epic items, including the “Fast zulian tiger”.
This epic mount is one of the rarest items in the game. The chance to obtain it from High Priest Thekal is 0.8%, and that is then shared among the 20 players who are likely to roll for it.
Additionally, the raid is somewhat easier and will be very popular due to reputation and mounts. Random groups should therefore form quickly here and should be able to handle the content well, provided that the tank does not accidentally wipe the group, as in this curious story.
What happened at the release in 2005? Zul’Gurub caused one of the craziest stories to date at Vanilla WoW’s release. Hunters were able to carry Hakkar’s plague, the final boss of the instance, out into the wide world.
This killed countless players and NPCs in the capital cities. The social aspect of this WoW plague was even part of scientific studies and helps some researchers today to understand the spread of the coronavirus.
Quests for Fishers and Dragon Hunters
What else does the update bring? With Phase 4, the fishing competition in Stranglethorn Vale will take place. It occurs on select days, and you should catch as many fish as possible. Rewards include gold and special loot. However, you should have leveled your fishing well in advance.
Especially on PvP servers, this event has been quite adventurous in the past.
If you prefer to be out in a large group rather than alone, you can go dragon hunting. The “Emerald Dragons” guard the portals at the large trees, but they are not as peaceful as Ysera. Also, special loot awaits you from the world bosses.
Meanwhile, Blizzard is likely contemplating how to proceed with Classic. There have reportedly been emails to find out if players want Burning Crusade Classic.
