With Rise Online, a new MMORPG comes in 2022 that is set to play like an old classic with slick graphics. It will be the spiritual successor to Knight Online, an MMORPG that is especially popular in Eastern Europe and Turkey. However, bosses in Rise are supposed to drop cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
What kind of game is this? Rise Online is a classic theme park MMORPG. It will be Free2Play and heavily inspired by its predecessor Knight Online:
- You create your character from the classes Warrior, Mage, Thief, and Priest
- You receive tasks in the form of quests
- You fight against monsters to get better items and experience points
- The MMORPG relies on a crafting system
- There are various dungeons
- PvP takes place in special areas where two opposing kingdoms battle each other
- There are different mounts and pets
- You can join a guild
However, RISE Online uses Unreal Engine 4 and has more modern graphics. Additionally, there will be an integration into blockchain technology, allowing you to earn real money in the game.
A glimpse into the MMORPG is provided by this playtest video from YouTuber Grindfest from the Alpha:
Rise Online will be released in April
When will Rise Online be released? The release is scheduled for April 15. It will be available in a standalone client and will not be released on Steam.
Is the game available in German? No, the supported languages are currently only English and Turkish.
Who is the game aimed at? Rise Online does not want to reinvent the MMORPG wheel, but claims to cater to those who miss classic gaming experiences and want to relive adventures like those from around 20 years ago. Titles like Metin or Knight Online are mentioned as examples from back then.
However, some players are also concerned about an aggressive monetization model, which is fairly common in Knight Online.
Additionally, the developers announced in the beta in October 2021 a revamp towards blockchain and cryptocurrency. This will enable players to earn money while gaming.
How does earning money work? The new MMORPG utilizes NFTs and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (via Rise Online):
- There will be Roco tokens. These will be dropped by all monsters and can be traded for items in a special NFT marketplace, which is already online.
- Players may receive special drops in the form of Roco, but also Bitcoin or Ethereum, when they defeat one of the major bosses.
Rise Online aims to appeal to both old-school fans and attract new players with cryptocurrencies.
Rise Online is primarily interesting for fans of old MMORPGs who would like to experience them in a modern form, and of course for fans of Play2Earn.
Do you find the MMORPG Rise Online interesting? Or do the setting or the theme of cryptocurrency not appeal to you at all? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
Rise Online is not the first MMORPG to focus on cryptocurrency and NFTs. In 2022, a new title from the ArcheAge universe is also expected to use these systems:
