On Steam, there is a new shooter that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Together as a team, you must first loot, then build a base, and craft new weapons in order to escape with your team at the end.
What kind of game is this? There are always new shooters on Steam, but right now there is a test for a promising competitor to Escape from Tarkov and Battlefield, as Striden combines the best elements from popular shooters.
In Striden’s new co-op game mode, you start almost without equipment and must first loot the surroundings as a team to get components. Once you have gathered a decent amount of loot, you can build your base together with your teammates to also manufacture weapons there.
It is also important to have a station for your filters, as in the post-apocalyptic world of Striden you will frequently come into contact with radioactivity and therefore need filters for your mask.

Let’s go to battle
When will you fight? Once you are well equipped, you and your team must secure components from airdrops. There you will also encounter other teams that have started the game at the same time as you. You will need to fight these other teams to secure the components, as they are key to winning a round.
Whoever secures the components in battle can call for evacuation at their own base. However, you have not won yet, as the enemy teams will also make their way to you to disrupt your radio signal.
This is when it shows whether you have upgraded your base well enough, as in addition to reinforced windows and doors, you can also build turrets to assist you in defense.
What makes the game so special? Striden can best be described as Rust in a fast and compact round. The game takes the atmosphere from Stalker and Escape From Tarkov and mixes it with the building and crafting mechanics from survival games like Rust.
The movement and gunplay are reminiscent of titles like Battlefield and are less tactical than, for example, Escape from Tarkov. However, just like in the extraction shooter, you must “flee” from the map at the end of a round.
What is also interesting are the special abilities of the players. Each player can transform into an animal with special abilities to perform special attacks in combat.
What do we know about the release of the shooter? Striden has not yet been released and currently has no planned release date. However, you can try out the new game mode for free on Steam until January 2, 2025.
