Which game are we talking about? Shell Runner is a new PvE extraction looter shooter set to launch on July 15, 2024, looking to captivate you with an intriguing cyberpunk setting. The game is developed by indie developer Reija and published by indie.io.
Next week, the extraction shooter will then launch on Steam in Early Access. This phase is set to last between three and six months, allowing developers to address bugs, improve gameplay, and deliver new content.
What can you expect? As the trailer shows, Shell Runner throws you into a colorful cyberpunk setting with fast-paced top-down battles. According to the official description on the Steam page, it is supposed to be a tactical shooter that mixes looter-shooter with extraction gameplay.
You can face off against enemies solo or with other players in either co-op or PvE mode. You take on the role of a so-called shell runner, who works for anyone willing to pay enough.
In battle, you control your individual shells
In battle, you control the so-called shells, a type of remote-controlled robot. You can customize these individually to match your preferences and play style. The game is supposed to offer you 20 different shell models.
To secure your loot, you must reach a specific extraction point with it. If your shell is destroyed before then, you lose both the loot and your equipment. You are also promised that no run will be like the other. Procedurally generated maps and boss battles with random sequences are designed to ensure this.
