In 2024, a new film about The Lord of the Rings is set to be released, which will help to better understand Peter Jackson’s epic.

This year, an animated film titled “Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” will be released, highlighting an important battle of Middle-earth in detail.

What is War of the Rohirrim? It is a new cinema film that will be produced in anime style and overseen by an American-Japanese team.

Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, known for works like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

What is War of the Rohirrim about? The story focuses on the battle of Rohan under King Helm Hammerhand.

He must defend his realm against the Dunlendings, led by Wulf, who fight against the Riders of Rohan. Additionally, it will also focus on Helm’s daughter Hera, who plays an important role in the fights as the head of the resistance.

In order to prevent the capital Edoras from becoming the focal point of the war, the king builds the massive Hornburg for defense.

This will also shed light on the story behind the fortress in Helm’s Deep, which you already know from the Lord of the Rings films, where the heroes fight together with King Théoden against the Uruk-hai.

Chronologically, the story is set before the “Lord of the Rings“ trilogy.

When will The War of the Rohirrim be released? On December 12, The War of the Rohirrim is expected to make its theatrical debut in Germany.

Who stars in the lead roles? The lead role of Helm Hammerhand will be played by Brian Cox (Braveheart), while Gaia Wise (Silent Witness) voices his daughter Hera. Luke Pasqualino (Snowpiercer) will be heard as Wulf.

Additionally, the film features a comeback of Miranda Otto, who portrayed Éowyn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. She will voice a younger version of her role in the upcoming film.
