A lot is at stake for DC
Why is the success of the film important? It’s clear that a film should aim to make as much money as possible, and this is nothing new. However, those in charge at DC will be watching Superman closely.
The reason: Superman 2025 is a key film in the new DC Universe. It is the successor to the DC Extended Universe, which included films like “Man of Steel”, “Justice League”, and “Wonder Woman”. It is the DC equivalent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

It remains to be seen how fans will embrace the new Superman. Should the film turn out to be a flop at the box office, it is questionable what will happen to the newly launched DC Universe.
Plans for more films in the first chapter are already in the works: Supergirl is set to get a film, as is Clayface.
