In Destiny 2 you can customize and improve your Stasis classes for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans. We will show you how to do it and what the aspects, fragments, or ice grenades can do.
This is how you get Stasis: Stasis is the first new element in Destiny in 6 years, so overall. If you want to use ice abilities, you need the expansion Destiny 2: Beyond Light.
However, you do not receive Stasis directly upon purchasing the DLC.
- The new classes must first be unlocked individually with each character and then improved through many missions.
- Once you complete the Beyond Light campaign against Eramis, you are allowed to use the base form of Stasis.
- In the multi-part quest “Born in Darkness” and through other prerequisites, you will gradually receive more skills and modifications for your Warlock, Hunter, or Titan.
- This will keep you busy for quite a while. However, you can customize the new skills much more than the Solar, Void, and Arc classes.

Improving Stasis – Complete “Born in Darkness” on Europa
You have completed the story, congratulations, now you can wreak havoc with your Stasis super in PvP or freeze raid bosses. However, you don’t see much of the promised customizability of the new classes from Beyond Light yet.
- Warlocks are happy about the ice mage “Shadebinder”
- Titans hit hard with the frozen Colossus
- Hunters become icy ninjas with the Revenant
To customize Stasis to your wishes, you need to complete various tasks. You will basically find them all with the Exo Stranger on Europa.
Immediately after the campaign, you will receive the quest line “Born in Darkness” from the Exo Stranger. Throughout the three-part quest, you will receive new Stasis grenades, a modified class ability, and the option to activate the new “fragment and aspect” system.
We will break down all three important points individually so you can develop your Guardian effectively.
Find all 3 Stasis grenades in Beyond Light
For the first time in Destiny, all Guardian classes share the grenades. Your Warlock has the same 3 Stasis grenades as the Titan or Hunter. You receive them with all characters through the same quest line.
This is how you unlock the grenade skills:
- Once you have completed the story, you by default have access to your first Stasis grenade: the “Glacier Grenade”.
- You then receive the other two grenades through the quests “Born in Darkness 2” and “Born in Darkness 3” from the Exo Stranger on Europa.
The mysterious time traveler will send you through the new locations and through playlist activities like Strikes. The tasks are self-explanatory and will always be displayed in the HUD or on the map. Usually, you need to use Stasis.

How do the new grenades differ for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans?
Glacier Grenade creates ice walls and Stasis crystals.
- This allows you to create cover or even jumping platforms.
- The Stasis constructs last for 15 seconds – but can be destroyed by you or enemies.
- When an ice wall shatters, it deals damage to the nearby surroundings.
- If you throw the Glacier Grenade at your feet, you catapult yourself into the air.
- If the grenade directly hits an enemy, that enemy is frozen.
Cold Snap Grenades create a Stasis field.
- The grenade’s damage is very low – all enemies affected are slowed down and disoriented.
- Within a radius of 9 meters, the grenade sucks everything in and lasts for 7 seconds.
- If an enemy is within the effect range for 3 seconds, they completely freeze.
- The disorientation also suppresses abilities like the Hunter’s dodge.
Shiver Grenades send out an ice wave that automatically seeks enemies.
- A hit enemy instantly freezes and takes low damage.
- If a target is frozen, the grenade seeks out additional targets.
- Up to 3 enemies can be tracked in succession.
- The tracking of the grenade is very aggressive, seeking out the ice wave even around corners or along walls.
Aspects in Destiny 2: Beyond Light
Aspects drastically change your Guardian’s playstyle and are specifically designed for a Stasis focus. They either modify existing abilities or give you a whole new skill for your arsenal.
This is how you get the first aspect: You will receive your first aspect through the quest “Aspect of Control” which you will receive automatically during the quest line “Born in Darkness”.
The mission is not very easy, you will have to unlock a new weapon exotic and then find 5 hidden objects on Europa – the Entropic Shards.

All aspects for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans in Destiny 2 and what they can do
Currently, there are 2 aspects for each class. However, only one can be found in the game so far. You equip these in the Stasis menu on the right. As soon as we know how to unlock the further aspects, we will update the article on MeinMMO.
Keep in mind that each class has its own aspects – meaning, a Warlock enjoys different skills than a Titan and a Hunter gets to use different tricks.
Warlock:
- Iceflare Bolts: When you shatter frozen targets, Stasis seekers automatically appear to freeze other enemies.
- Frostpulse: When you use your Rift, a Stasis shockwave is created that freezes everything nearby.
Hunter:
- Winter’s Shroud: Your dodge jump slows enemies in the surrounding area.
- Shard Dive: You quickly slam down from the air and shatter enemies in the impact radius.
Titan:
- Tectonic Harvest: When you shatter a Stasis crystal, you create a Stasis shard. This grants you or your team melee energy.
- Cryoclasm: Your slide is improved. If you slide into an ice crystal or frozen enemy, the object shatters and propels all frozen objects nearby.
All Stasis fragments and where to get them
These are fragments: Fragments modify aspects. They grant you bonuses on damage or affect your Stasis abilities with buffs – some even come with negative effects. Each aspect has space for a varying number of fragments.
In contrast to aspects, fragments are valid for all classes. They are not specific to Warlocks, Hunters, or Titans.
These are all known fragments:
- Whispers of Hedrons: Gain a weapon damage bonus after freezing a target with Stasis (-10 Strength).
- Whispers of Rifts (1) Increases the damage and size of the Stasis explosion when destroying a Stasis crystal or defeating a frozen target.
- Whispers of Light Breach: Defeating slowed or frozen targets grants class ability energy.
- Whispers of Captivity: The slowing effect of your abilities lasts longer, and the duration of lingering abilities is increased (+10 Strength).
- Whispers of Bonding: Defeating frozen targets with weapons grants super energy (-10 Intellect and -10 Discipline).
- Whispers of Shards: Shattering a Stasis crystal temporarily increases your grenade recharge rate. Shattering additional Stasis crystals increases the duration of this benefit (+10 Resilience).
Where to get new fragments? The Exo Stranger offers you a selection of “fragment quests” on Europa every week. From the selection, you can choose up to 2, and additional ones can be earned in the following weeks.
The tasks will send you to Gambit, the Crucible, or Strikes. As a reward, you will receive a “memory fragment” each time. You can then exchange this with the Exo for a fragment – you have free choice with her.
