IKEA’s furniture is used by many as the foundation for their own gaming setup. However, the Swedish furniture mogul has never ventured into dedicated gaming furniture: that is changing now, and the first reviews are positive.
Who designed this? IKEA has teamed up with Asus Rog to design a whole range of new gaming products. The collection is simply called “Gaming Range”.
Some of the gaming furniture are well-known IKEA models with a new print or look. Others have been completely redesigned or heavily modified.
The IKEA gaming collection includes:
- Gaming chairs
- simple desks
- desks with extra features like height adjustment or shelves
- pegboards for hanging tools, cables, and other decorative elements.
- smaller accessories for the perfect setup.
IKEA launches gamer-oriented furniture – Do you need it?
Who needs IKEA gaming furniture? Those who think that IKEA is just looking for quick cash by luring gamers with cheap black-red-metallic colored furniture are partly wrong. Of course, the company wants to make money off you.
But that doesn’t mean the furniture is bad or useless; on the contrary: all the furniture seems well thought out and offers added value. In addition to simple models, there are also desks adorned with RGB. Electrically height-adjustable ones, those with extra space for cable management, and those with a back wall and shelves.
Generally, much is equipped with RGB lights. You can also get a headset holder or a pegboard with RGB.
First reviews of IKEA’s gaming furniture
In China, Japan, and some other countries in Asia, the gaming collection has already gone on sale. Here, individual pieces of furniture on average score 4 out of 5 stars. Buyers particularly highlight the price-performance ratio. This has pros and cons, as this review of the “Matchspel” gaming chair shows:
Chairs with mesh backs are often very expensive, but here it only costs 15,990 yen (126.50 €). Unfortunately, the seat cushion is not made of mesh, but I am still very satisfied. I do have some concerns that the armrests are too thin and that the wheels move with difficulty.

Compared to many models on the market that we compared, this desk is better in many respects. It is easy to assemble and stable. It is just incomprehensible why IKEA did not integrate a cable channel into a gaming desk.

When will the collection arrive? Part of the gaming collection can already be ordered in Europe. This includes the desk Fredde. The remaining furniture from the collection will be released in October 2021 in Germany and the rest of Europe. Then you can experiment with your setups again.
