Achievements in World of Warcraft number in the thousands. Yet, only a handful are particularly challenging and only suitable for the most persistent gamers, including you. Have you obtained them yet?
Since the end of “The Burning Crusade”, there have been achievements in World of Warcraft. Although achievements only provide rewards like titles or toys in rare cases, they motivate many players and offer clear goals to pursue in Azeroth.
While some achievements can be completed almost effortlessly, there are also a few particularly tough ones that you may have never heard of. Here are our top 5 hardest achievements in World of Warcraft.
Note: For this list, we only included achievements that are currently available in the game. Any achievements and feats that could only be earned at a specific time in the past have not been considered.
Rank 5: What a Long, Strange Trip …
What you need to achieve this success: For this achievement, you must participate in all major world events of World of Warcraft and complete a total of 71 different achievements. These include the 8 major “meta-achievements” for the following events:
- Harvest Festival
- Love is in the Air
- Noble Garden
- Children’s Week
- Midsummer Fire Festival
- Oktoberfest
- Hallow’s End
- Winter Veil
Why this is so hard: With a few exceptions, the individual achievements are not that difficult. The challenge of this major achievement lies in the fact that they can only be earned at specific times, spread throughout the year. Children’s Week in May lasts only about 7 days. If you miss this time, you have to wait a whole year.
Therefore, the achievement requires that the player remains active throughout the year and does not miss any major events. However, over the years, many players should be able to obtain this achievement.
What does the achievement bring? The achievement rewards with the reins of the Violet Proto-Drake. Back during Wrath of the Lich King, this was one of the few ways to relatively easily obtain a proto-drake. Nowadays, it’s not that rare anymore. However, if you see a player on this dragon, you can be sure: A lot of time has been invested in events.
Rank 4: On the Edge of Madness
What you need to achieve this success: For this achievement, you must reach exalted or revered reputation with very unusual reputation factions. Included are the Bloodsail Buccaneers, but also factions like Ravenholdt, Gadgetzan, the Eternal Wait, Booty Bay, and the Darkmoon Faire.
Why this is so hard: We have reported on this achievement from time to time. The difficulty lies in the fact that you have to earn reputation with factions where that is quite unusual. To be considered friendly with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, for instance, you must slaughter the guards and inhabitants of the Goblin cities like Booty Bay – and that for very, very many hours. In the process, you lose all reputation you might have had with these goblins. The problem is: After that, it is also necessary to regain exalted status with exactly these goblins.
Also, the Ravenholdt faction is a problem. Because there, you cannot farm reputation in the usual way; you have to exchange lockboxes in the hundreds. However, these can only be obtained by rogues – so you either hire a rogue for a lot of gold or level one yourself.
It indeed takes several weeks to achieve this, even if you were to pursue the goal for 10-12 hours every day.
What does the achievement bring? The achievement rewards your entire account with the title “the Mad”. If you see someone with this title, you can be sure: A player has had a lot of boredom – or is simply insane.
Rank 3: Earn 250,000 Honorable Kills
What you need to achieve this success: The name of this achievement is the program. The goal is clearly defined: Kill 250,000 players from the opposing faction and have them credited as honorable kills.
Why this is so hard: The decisive factor for this achievement is, once again, time. 250,000 kills is an achievement that can take many years. If you don’t regularly play PvP, you will probably never come close to this achievement.
Even if you set yourself the goal of achieving 1,000 honorable kills every day – which would be extremely ambitious – you would have to spend hours upon hours in battlegrounds, and even then, you’d need about 9 months to maintain this goal every day.
What does the achievement bring? The achievement rewards with the title “the Bloodthirsty” and could not be more appropriate. Because with the blood of 250,000 PvP victims, even the greatest San’layn lord would be well taken care of for the rest of his career. If you discover a player with this title, it’s clear: Here’s someone who really enjoys PvP.
Rank 2: 100 Revered Factions
What you need to achieve this success: Once again, the name of the achievement is quite simple to understand. The player must “only” raise 100 reputation factions to exalted status. This is the highest reputation level and is usually associated with a long grind.
Why this is so hard: Reputation factions span the entire world of Warcraft and all expansions currently available. Each expansion has about 8-12 of them – more in some, fewer in others. To earn this achievement, you need to play all types of content across all expansions. This also includes PvP, dungeons, and raids.
Another difficulty is that there are currently only just over 100 obtainable reputation factions in World of Warcraft. With Shadowlands , the number of reputation factions will increase further, making this achievement easier – the beta is expected to start soon. However, even then, the large number of 100 factions is still an accomplishment that most accounts have a long way to go.
Factions that are “mirrored” do not count, by the way. You can either count the 7th Legion (Alliance) or the Valstorm (Horde) – both at the same time is not possible.
What does the achievement bring? The achievement brings two rewards to brag about. On one hand, there is the title “High Exalted” and on the other, the mount Pureheart. This is a white-blue monocorn that serves as your ground mount and makes a powerful impression.
Rank 1: Phenomenal Cosmic Power
What you need to achieve this success: Many players may not know this achievement at all, as it is a hidden feat of strength. To obtain it, the player must have all essences for the Heart of Azeroth from patch 8.2 for a single role (Healer, Tank, or DPS) at rank 4. These are not only the equipped essences but also all those not actively used.
Why this is so hard: This achievement requires the player to master the most difficult content. While rank 3 of an essence can still be obtained quite easily, rank 4 is merely a cosmetic upgrade and is hence significantly harder to earn. Some essences can be easily obtained at rank 4 through reputation or long farming, but a large part involves hardcore achievements in PvP and PvE. Here are a few examples of what needs to be done:
- Level all followers in Nazjatar to level 30
- Complete all dungeons on “Mythic+15” within the time
- Defeat Queen Azshara in Mythic mode
- Achieve a 2400 rating in PvP
This insane grind is probably also why players wish for account-bound essences.
What does the achievement bring? The achievement rewards with the special title “Champion of Azeroth” and is sure to catch the eye. When you see a player with this title, you know that he is a masterful player, shining in all areas. Perhaps you should just kneel and honor him a bit, that would certainly be appropriate.
