Several weeks ago, the Spring season of animes started. The streaming service Crunchyroll has once again added numerous series to its program. Among them is a nondescript anime that MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen initially overlooked. However, after the first three episodes, she is hooked.
Which anime was overlooked? We are talking about Train to the End of the World. The anime has an average rating of 4.5/5 stars on Crunchyroll with 1,400 votes cast. On MyAnimeList, the anime has a score of 7.36 out of 10 possible points, ranking alongside Sword Art Online (7.21) and Goblin Slayer (7.42).
Although the anime initially appears sugary sweet with its cute girl crew, there is a mysterious adventure behind it.
The anime premiered on April 1, 2024. Currently, only three episodes are available, with the rest scheduled to be uploaded weekly. The corresponding manga is also relatively new – it has only been available since March 25, 2024.

By Train to the End of the World
What is Train to the End of the World about? The launch of the 7G network is imminent. The world is eagerly waiting to finally communicate telepathically through the network. But during the launch, the world descends into catastrophe, and civilization ends as isolated settlements.
The 7G accident has led to another anomaly: strange things happen in every village. For example, the residents of Agano turn into animals once they reach the age of 21.
The young girl Shizuru Chikura learns that her missing friend Yoka Nakatomi is still alive. Together with her classmates, she sets off by train to track down Yoka.
What makes the anime so special? The first episode already shows with its colorful animations what a crazy anime Train to the End of the World is. The following episodes are not as wild, but the different anomalies and natural phenomena are incredibly fascinating to watch.
With each new episode, I find myself wondering what will happen to the girls this time. Currently, I cannot gauge the pace at which the story will unfold. Moreover, the contrast between the childlike protagonists and the harsh world sometimes feels too stark.
But all in all, the series is a great anime that I can wholeheartedly recommend. The release on April 1 shows that we can look forward to an extremely surreal adventure anime.
Where can I watch Train to the End of the World? The anime is currently available with a subscription on Crunchyroll. Unfortunately, it is not among the series that you can watch without a premium subscription. You need to pay monthly (or annually) to watch the anime. So far, only the Japanese audio with German subtitles is available.
