In Throne and Liberty, bots have been in the game since the launch of the MMORPG. However, they have become increasingly sophisticated. Amazon Games Studios is fighting back.
What is the deal with the bots? In the MMORPG Throne and Liberty, there has been a significant bot problem since the release in the West. Likely due to the release in Korea, bot creators were able to test their software for a long time and are now using it in the western version of the game.
Initially, the bot problem was manageable. In the open world and rarely in the open-world dungeons, there were some players with suspicious names. More often, all suspects moved to a certain point, making them easy to identify.
However, the bots have become more intelligent over the weeks since the release. The latest developments can even perform tasks that were too challenging for some players.
In the following video, you will learn how to get bait and salt:
Bots in the cooperative dungeon of Throne and Liberty
The cooperative dungeons in Throne and Liberty are not particularly easy. For many, the team needs good coordination and players who can execute the mechanics correctly. If the group is not well-trained, they quickly face failures.
According to the Steam achievements, only about 10% of players have completed all cooperative dungeons in Throne and Liberty. However, those who enter a dungeon through the group search function encounter fewer new players and some bots.
The bots are now programmed so well that they can at least partially play the cooperative dungeons in Throne and Liberty. While the bots do not always manage to win a boss fight on their own, in many cases, they indeed succeed.
How do players react to the bots? The fact that bots are now also running through the cooperative dungeons is likely a blessing for the players. The user ovper writes on Reddit: “They are better than the average player. By the way, I’m not saying bots are good, it’s just a statement of fact.”
Another player responds to him on Reddit: “They all survived, and the only other real person died to the mechanics 😅.”
How big is the problem? While players are likely pleased with the somewhat competent bots, the computer companions harm the in-game economy. The loot that the bots obtain is likely sold, and the currency earned from it is sometimes resold on third-party websites.
However, Amazon Games Studio does not simply let the bots run free, but regularly bans many bot accounts. The last ban wave occurred on October 23rd. The next round of bans has already been announced by the developers on X.com.
What likely helps the developers is reports from players who would report bots and suspicious players. This way, the system can identify cheaters more quickly. Also, in another Amazon Games MMORPG, there are many cheaters: Through a trick, players are becoming very wealthy in Lost Ark on Steam, and now Amazon is responding with the ban hammer
