A manufacturer of gaming merchandise was allegedly forced by Sony to destroy its entire range of PS4/PS5 items. If you are in possession of such a figure, you should treat it like gold. Due to the sales stop, these may increase in value in the future.
Gamers like to buy a lot of merchandise related to their favorite video games. Especially collectible figures in various designs are a coveted collectible. These often find their place as decor in the gaming setup, often on shelves or in specially built glass cabinets.
Now, Gaming Heads, a manufacturer of gaming collectible figures, has been asked by Sony to destroy its entire range of PS4/PS5 items. Open orders will no longer be fulfilled. This makes figures in your possession gold. So take good care of them.
Affected customers are upset about the poor communication and want their money back.
Sony is still silent on this and has not given any reasons for this decision.
Another manufacturer makes a big blunder by writing ‘Liar’ on its t-shirts.
If you have one of these figures, treat it like gold
What does Gaming Heads write in the open letter? The merchandise manufacturer Gaming Heads has addressed the community with a statement on X (formerly Twitter). It explains that the sale of officially licensed PlayStation items will be stopped immediately.
What happens to figures already produced from PS4/PS5 games? All items in stock will be destroyed. This was allegedly ordered directly by Sony as the licensor. This includes, for example, a bust of Kratos from God of War and a statue of Ellie from The Last of Us 2.
The figures that have already been sold could therefore soon become very valuable. So treat them like gold.
How will open orders be handled? Paid orders will no longer be fulfilled. According to Gaming Heads, affected customers should contact the console manufacturer directly. After upset customers complained about this questionable statement,
Gaming Heads backtracked in the comments. Refunds for already paid orders will now also run directly through the merchandise manufacturer.
What reasons are given for this decision? Gaming Heads speaks of a unilateral decision by Sony. However, without an official statement from the developer, all statements should be taken with caution. Interestingly, Sony is said to have already received licensing fees for unsold and unshipped goods from the range. How Gaming Heads and the PS5 manufacturer will come to an agreement on this matter remains uncertain.
All in all, this announcement leaves many open questions in the community and does not reflect well on the manufacturer Gaming Heads. It remains to be seen whether Sony will comment on this case and share its own perspective.
In this case, the pictures in the merchandise shop do not match the clothes that were delivered.
