Palworld will receive a new update in a few days. In addition to a new island, a new mode has also been announced.
What kind of mode is this? The new mode for Palworld is said to be a hardcore mode, as announced by the official Palworld X account. Hardcore modes usually mean more powerful enemies, tougher survival conditions, or additional challenges.
In a separate post on X.com, Global Community Manager Bucky from developer Pocket Pair elaborates on this. He specifies that there will be two hardcore switches: one for permanent player death and one for permanent Pal death.

What else does the update bring? The new update Feybreak was announced during the Game Awards in Los Angeles and brings a whole lot of new things to the game. Here’s a selection:
- New island
- New biomes
- New pals
- New items
- New hardcore mode
Gamerant also speculates in an article about the update that there could be a new (enemy) faction. They also suspect that Palworld could finally get a story with the update almost a year after its Early Access launch. Both are not confirmed.
Further new content is not yet known at the time of this news.
How will the new update be implemented? Feybreak is scheduled for release on December 23, 2024 – one day before Christmas Eve. The update is completely free.
Anyone currently in a Palworld game progression doesn’t have to worry that the new content could affect their save. In response to a relevant question, the Global Community Manager stated that the new island would simply appear in the world of the current game progress (via X.com).
Bucky confirms on X that Palworld will also remain in Early Access with the update and that the team still wants to do more things before Palworld officially goes live.
Regarding the original release of the game in early 2024, the developer stated that they would develop Palworld in Early Access for about a year. Since the game will be playable for exactly 11 months on December 19, the plans for the release seem to have been slightly postponed.
The new update for Palworld will give the game a boost again, after it has been rather quiet around it lately – aside from Nintendo’s lawsuit against the developer.
