Nvidia has pushed Microsoft and Apple from the top. Behind this is a unique stock market rise – and you could be rich today.
What should I have done? We certainly don’t give investment tips here on MeinMMO – especially not regarding the past. But in the case of the manufacturer of the most popular gaming GPUs, it is interesting to indulge in the following thought experiment:
Anyone who took 100 euros in spring 2020, just as the pandemic started, and bought Nvidia stocks out of the lockdown could buy the fastest GPU on the market today. Because in the past years, the value of your portfolio would have multiplied.
Where was the stock back then? In March 2020, a share changed hands for about six euros on the stock exchange; today you have to pay more than 130 to hold a share of Nvidia (via Boerse.de). Nvidia has now even become the most valuable company in the world, as also reported by Tagesschau. They surpass Microsoft and Apple by about a hundred billion each.
The trio forms a class of its own; they are the only ones who have managed to exceed the three trillion-dollar mark. A trillion is a 1 followed by twelve zeros, 1,000,000,000,000.
Comet-like rise thanks to AI
How did Nvidia achieve this? In one word: AI. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and everything related to it has been booming for about two years. This has allowed Nvidia to break out of its core business of gaming GPUs and now plays a role in almost every sector. Their chips are the brains of thousands of server farms that develop AIs and help them learn.

Well, isn’t it going downhill again soon? We don’t know, but we can state one thing: According to an analysis by Bloomberg, Nvidia has had the best price performance since its IPO in 1999 over the past 25 years.
Even in 2015, you could still get a share for about 0.50 cents. And if you had entered in 1999, one dollar invested back then would have turned into more than 5,900 dollars.
Do I also have AI in my computer? Yes and no; you possibly have the technology built into your Nvidia GPU, which in modified form represents the foundation for much of today’s AI computation, Tensor cores. They power Nvidia upscaling called DLSS and can be found on every Nvidia graphics card since the RTX 2000 series.
