Most of you are having fun again with World of Warcraft – at least that’s what a survey among MeinMMO readers indicated.
Patch 9.2 of World of Warcraft has been live for almost 10 days now and most players have already spent many hours in Zereth Mortis. Particularly eager characters have also already set foot in the new raid “Mausoleum of the First” in the past few days – at least in normal and heroic mode, the rest will follow later.
We wanted to know from you a few days ago how you received Patch 9.2: End of Eternity and more than 1,900 of you participated in our survey. We present the results to you – and they are relatively clear.
Because those currently playing World of Warcraft seem to be quite satisfied with the patch, at least this applies to the majority of our WoW-playing readers.
The result at the time of writing this article was:
- 20 % find the patch very good and have a lot of fun.
- 33 % find the patch okay, but think it is nothing special.
- 10 % are less impressed by the patch.
- 10 % think the patch is bad and have no fun at all.
- 27 % indicated that they are currently not playing WoW and therefore cannot assess the patch.
In the following, we will occasionally exclude the numbers of people who indicated “I am currently not playing WoW”. This way, we will arrive at more reliable figures regarding those still actively playing.
More than 70 % of players are satisfied
The clearly largest portion of votes falls on a positive opinion. 53 % of the votes cast are satisfied or very satisfied with the patch. If we only look at current players, the value even rises to 72.5 %. For example, Desten96 writes:
I find it very good. The only thing that bothers me are the annoying puzzles. I am finally enjoying WoW again and also leveling my other chars through the current addon to ensure they’re ready for the next hopefully good addon.
Zereth Mortis is especially praised so far. The area is a significant improvement compared to Korthia, which disappointed most players. There is a wealth of content, numerous rare enemies, and at the same time no compulsion to grind something – but the option to do so. Those who want to can farm over 50 mount and battle pets. Either specifically or as a side activity.
Not yet mentioned is – logically – the raid, Mausoleum of the First. It is just opening in its various modes, and it will take a few weeks before all players could at least take a look at the LFR.
Not everyone is satisfied
However, despite all the joy, the patch does not manage to excite all players. A total of 20 % of those surveyed (27 % of active players) are not satisfied or very unsatisfied – the two shares are almost equal.
For these players, the patch apparently continues and culminates a flawed addon, and they long for the next expansion, which will likely be a while before it arrives. Especially under the Facebook post related to the survey, many negative voices were found.
For example, Georg Maniek Zehle writes:
After such a long wait, I expected something more. I find it boring!
Others apparently wished for more variety from the “typical” MMORPG fare. For example, Birgit Freitel summarizes:
Collect 30 of this, kill 15 of those, run from A to B and come back. Like the last two years… nothing new.
It remains to be seen whether the patch can bridge the long wait until the next expansion, but at least cross-faction play should be coming to the PTR soon.
