Thanks to the holiday on May 1st, you can enjoy an extra-long weekend until May 3rd, 2020. And since you can’t do much outside because of Corona, these free multiplayer games come just in time.
What games are on the list? The selection criteria for our list are games that are either MMOs or at least have some form of multiplayer mode.
We also explicitly do not present free-to-play games here, but rather paid games that are temporarily available to play for free during special promotions. Those who generally want to play free games can find this list of 25 titles that we recommend from MeinMMO.

Generation Zero – Free on Steam

What is Generation Zero? Generation Zero is a co-op shooter set in the idyllic Sweden of the 1980s. You are a teenager who has just returned from a trip to the islands. But instead of meeting friends and family, your home is deserted, and strange combat robots seem to have taken over everything.
Whether alone or in co-op with up to three other players, you collect weapons and gear and fight against the robots. The bulkier versions are a real challenge and can only be effectively fought with teamwork. Throughout the game, you also investigate the mystery of the missing people, which is one of the highlights due to the dense atmosphere of the game and the unusual setting.
However, the game is still plagued by balance issues. But the beautiful atmosphere and the unusual setting are definitely worth a detour to Sweden.

Total War: Shogun 2 – Free on Steam

What is Total War – Shogun 2? This is the 7th part of the popular Total War series from Creative Assembly. As is typical for Total War, you get an exciting mix of turn-based strategic decisions on the big map and epic mass battles in real-time.
The setting takes place in medieval Japan from the 15th to 17th century when the whole country was torn apart by warring feudal lords for centuries. So you can look forward to cool samurai and ninjas.
In addition to the well-known single-player campaign, you can also play Shogun 2 in multiplayer. Then you conquer provinces on the Japan map with pre-placed armies and compete online against other players in battle. Cool feature: You even have a character editor where you can create your own personal samurai lord.
When and where will the game be free? From April 27th to May 1st, 2020, you can claim Shogun 2 for free on Steam and keep it permanently.
Child of Light

What is Child of Light? In this 2D role-playing game, the player takes on the role of Aurora, a child who has been torn from their home and must bring back the sun, moon, and stars in order to find their way home. These are held captive by a mysterious queen.
You run, jump, and fly through various levels. Whenever you encounter enemies, a battle arena opens where you face off against your foes in a turn-based system.
For character advancement, Child of Light features a crafting system with over 600 different items.
The game can be wonderfully experienced in local co-op with one other player. The second person takes on the role of Igniculus, Aurora’s loyal companion.
When and where will the game be free? From May 1st at 12:00 PM to May 5th at 8:00 PM, you can permanently secure Child of Light for free for PC. You can get it at the Ubisoft Store.
Free games without a console or high-end PC on Stadia
What is Stadia? Google’s game streaming service Stadia is currently available for free in the Pro version for anyone who owns a Google account. This allows you to play selected games in a Chrome browser on PC, mobile devices, or on your TV via Chromecast for 2 months.
Since the games are streamed over the internet, you don’t have to install or update them. You can just start and go. You can get the free Pro version of Stadia here.
