A player in Pokémon GO reaches out to the community on Reddit after their partner deleted numerous rare pocket monsters. The community responds with concern.
What did the husband do? In a now deleted post in the Pokémon GO subreddit, Reddit user Ninjavila reports that their partner deleted numerous rare pocket monsters during an argument. Among them were said to be a strong Letarking, a Mewtwo, and other treasures.
The player states they have been playing for years, and now everything they worked so hard for is gone. After reaching out to Niantic support in vain, they simply need to vent their frustration.
“Send him to the professor to turn him into candy”
How does the community react? The post received nearly 3,000 upvotes and over 1,000 comments. Many players are very attached to their Pokémon and can easily relate to Ninjavila’s frustration.
Some Reddit users respond humorously, suggesting to send the husband to the professor so he can be processed into candy or evaluate him based on Pokémon terms: he is like a Caterpie with mediocre IVs (via Reddit).
Others take the incident much more seriously and see the husband’s behavior as a warning sign. He deliberately destroyed something that was important to his partner. They advise Ninjavila to reconsider his relationship carefully.

Some Reddit users, however, note that we are only seeing one side of the story and cannot judge the relationship. Still, there are better ways to resolve a conflict than destroying your partner’s property.
Ninjavila has not commented further on the incident and seems to have not been active on Reddit since.
Gaming can sometimes be difficult to reconcile with a relationship. If your partner doesn’t play, there may be a lack of understanding for the hobby. If you play together, it can be uncomfortable to continue playing your former favorite games alone after a breakup.
