‘I was like a real football dad’ – Papaplatte talks on Twitch about the unexpected effects of the European Championship

The EM fever has completely gripped Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller. On Twitch, the streamer reports that he watches every game – and hardly recognizes himself in the process.

Since when has Papaplatte been infected with football fever? Recently, Papaplatte reported on Twitch about his newly discovered passion for football. Up until that point, he had apparently followed not just every single game of the ongoing EM but had really cheered along as well. This seems to have unexpected effects on the Twitch streamer.

Papaplatte’s streaming colleague IShowSpeed even traveled to Germany specifically for the EM.

The “totally cool” EM elicits dad jokes from the streamer

What are the effects? As Papaplatte reports, during the games he has become a “real football dad”: From his living room sofa, the Twitch streamer is said to have commented on the games with classic phrases (“Ah, nice!”). Especially during the Germany games, he was really “pumped”.

When the 1-1 equalizer was scored against Switzerland, he even yelled loudly, although he was watching the game alone at home with his girlfriend. The streamer hardly recognized himself as he sat there with his potato-leek soup, celebrating: “[I] thought: Dude, who am I?”

The Twitch streamer also tries to explain why this EM has such a strong effect on Papaplatte: Although he himself doesn’t quite know what it is, the EM is “totally cool” and the German team is “really awesome”. The fact that the championship is taking place in their own country apparently adds to the hype.
