Eventually, you can play Diablo Immortal on your phone. You can make it easier for yourself when you use a controller. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann has tested two devices for mobile and explains why they are much better than the touchscreen.
Diablo Immortal aims to bring the typical hack-and-slash gameplay to mobile devices. You can smash plenty of enemies and then collect loot.
On mobile, you can control your character either with the touchscreen of your phone or with a controller. How old your phone can be for Diablo Immortal, you can read it on MeinMMO.
Two controllers are currently among my absolute favorites because you can connect them directly to your phone. This way, the controllers take up less space than if you reach for an Xbox or PlayStation controller. I tested the controllers with a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (6.4 inches) and the Note 10+ (6.8 inches). My two devices fit perfectly in the featured controllers.
Annoying is that for certain inputs in the menus of Diablo Immortal, you need the thumbstick to navigate through the menus like with a finger. Here it’s convenient that your fingers are not far from the screen.
The Razer Kishi is a good all-rounder when it’s on sale
What kind of controller is this? The Razer Kishi is a controller into which you clamp your phone in the middle. You then connect the phone directly via the USB-C or Lightning connector. This way, the controller also doesn’t need a battery, but you cannot use the headphone jack. Razer does not specify the size in inches, instead, it provides dimensions (145.3 – 163.7 mm x 68.2 – 78.1 mm x 7.0 – 8.8 mm).
What is good about it? The controller is very compact and suitable for travel luggage. Neither I (big hands) nor my girlfriend (small hands) had trouble reaching any buttons. The setup works without problems, and it is recognized directly by the game and the phone. Since I have played on PC with an Xbox controller before, I feel at home with it right away.
The controller also offers a USB-C port. Once your phone is connected, you can charge your phone while in use.
What isn’t so great? The build quality doesn’t always convince me. Razer primarily uses plastic. The two halves of the controller are connected with a kind of leather strap. This works flawlessly. Other manufacturers use a stable attachment on the back. I find the grip tiring after a while and not entirely ergonomically sound. My girlfriend did not have this problem.
For whom is the controller recommended? If you’re looking for a good all-rounder that works for various games besides Diablo Immortal, then take a look at the Razer Kishi. It’s best to buy it for 50 – 60 euros. It is simply too expensive at the regular price of around 110 euros.
However, note that Razer sells a separate device for both Apple and Android devices. The device for Android uses USB-C, so you cannot use it on an iPhone.

The Nacon MG-X Pro offers great ergonomics but may not always have precise buttons
What kind of controller is this? The MG-X Pro is also a device where you clamp your phone in the middle. However, the controller uses Bluetooth as the connection, and you need to charge the controller regularly. The MG-X Pro is suitable for phones up to 6.7 inches. My Galaxy Note 10+ is officially 0.1 inches too big but still fits in the controller.
What is good about it? The ergonomics feel very pleasant due to the shaped and textured grips. I could play for a whole afternoon without any issues. Both my girlfriend and I could easily reach all the buttons. On an Android device, the controller sets up easily and is recognized directly by Diablo Immortal. Unlike the Kishi, the phone is held by a bridge between the two controller halves in the MG-X Pro. I like this better and it promises security for my device. The battery life held up well for several days, but I also played only a few hours in the evening.
What isn’t so great? On iOS, we had issues connecting the controller directly, and it didn’t work right away. Overall, it is bulkier than the Kishi and doesn’t easily fit into travel luggage. In purely single-player games, you hardly notice the latency of Bluetooth, while in online games, it’s more noticeable. However, I didn’t feel the delay as strongly as with the streaming service GeForce Now in Diablo Immortal.
The thumbsticks of the controller feel somewhat spongy at times. With the Sorceress, for example, you have to position your spells precisely if you want to hit all enemies. The D-pad is the better partner for aiming in that case.
For whom is the controller recommended? If you are looking for an ergonomic controller that you can connect flexibly with any device, the MG-X Pro is definitely a recommendation. However, at 90 euros, the device is expensive, but it is already cheaper than the Kishi at the MSRP and seems better built due to the bridge.
Razer Kishi or Nacon MG-X Pro?
Which controller should I choose? Personally, I really like both controllers and I have played various games on my phone with both devices. If you do not want to spend more than 60 euros at the current time (June 2, 2022), then go for the Razer Kishi. Because you can currently get the Razer device for around 50 euros.
If you prefer to be flexible because you use different devices or if your family has both Android and Apple devices, then go for the Nacon MG-X Pro. With Razer, you would otherwise have to buy two different devices since the USB-C connector does not fit on your iPhone.
What other alternatives are there? An alternative to comprehensive controllers would be a clip that allows you to attach an already purchased Xbox or PlayStation controller to your phone. I personally think that this makes the phone look quite bulky, but it’s definitely a cheap alternative if you only want to play at home.
