A tablet is more convenient than a phone for many tasks. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann tested how much you can get for under 100 euros.
The tablet is often used for movies, a few quick emails, or other tasks where the phone is simply too small. It is often more comfortable than carrying around a heavy laptop.
Many people are willing to invest 1,000 euros or more in a phone, but when it comes to tablets, they prefer to save money because their everyday usability is somewhat limited.
Out of curiosity, I ordered a tablet for around 100 euros. Officially, the model costs 119.99 euros, but with Prime, you can get it for 89.99 euros. With 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage, and modern Android 12, it sounds good on paper.
But how good is such a tablet really if you only paid 100 euros for it? And are there better alternatives?

Package Contents and Other Details
What is included in the package? The package includes the tablet, a charging cable, and a power adapter. Additionally, a thin film was already applied to the display. Nothing more is included, and nothing more is needed.
A protective case for the tablet can be ordered for around 15 euros from the same manufacturer.
What technology is inside the Blackview Tab 8 Wifi? Inside the tablet is a Rockchip RK3566, a mid-range processor from 2021. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and 3 GB of virtual memory expansion. With 128 GB, the storage space is surprisingly extensive, and thanks to a slot for a memory card, it can also be expanded.
The IPS display has a resolution of only 800×1280, but it is still 10.1 inches. The main camera features 13 megapixels, while the front camera has 8 megapixels.
How Does the Tablet Perform in Everyday Use?
How well does the tablet work? Unsurprisingly, the device is slow. Most applications take a moment to fully load or receive messages from messengers. However, given the built-in technology, this is really not surprising.
I can easily write a longer text and check emails on Google Docs. Smaller games like Geometry Dash also run flawlessly on the device. Battery life is also quite sufficient and lasts easily 2 to 3 days, depending on how intensively I use the model.
The colors of the HD display are vibrant, and the Tab 8 Wifi is bright enough to read or work with even in sunlight.
It’s also worth noting that you get almost pure Android: In addition to all the Google apps, “Block Puzzle”, “Toy Crush Fever”, and “WPS Office” are installed on my device. While not needed, they don’t bother me either.
What is not so great? Overall, the display could be more responsive to my touch inputs. Additionally, the display is very sensitive and after a short time, you can see fingerprints everywhere.
The camera is usable for snapshots, but not for anything else. The colors appear too dull overall, and in low light, the images are very noisy. For photography, it’s better to bring a proper camera or a good phone.
Weighing slightly more than 500 grams, the tablet is not exactly lightweight.

What problems are there? At first, I had an annoying boot problem where the tablet didn’t start up cleanly. The tablet got stuck for ages on the manufacturer’s logo before Android eventually booted up. However, I have since found that the tablet sometimes takes a few minutes to start properly.
While annoying, it’s not a dealbreaker. I cannot confirm whether other devices from the same manufacturer have the same issue. However, it certainly explains why the device doesn’t excite me.
Without Issues, the Tablet Would Be Worth Recommending
Can I recommend the model? If you can handle a somewhat leisurely pace and can afford to be patient during the boot process or when starting apps, then the tablet is generally worth recommending. With such a low price, compromises are to be expected. Especially the good display and decent battery life make a favorable impression.
However, I couldn’t find mentions of my problems with the long boot process among other buyers on Amazon or other reviewers. Therefore, my recommendation remains somewhat limited: If you get a device without “problems,” the approximately 100 euros are well worth it if you don’t have high expectations.
There’s no need to spend 600 euros on an expensive Samsung tablet if you only want to check emails and watch series.
Are there alternatives? If you’re willing to spend 30 or 40 euros more, you already get a few good alternatives to the Blackview model:
- The Lenovo Tab M8 offers good battery life and decent build quality, but the performance is quite weak. And the camera is also not a plus point.
- With the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, you also get a device for around 100 euros with good performance and good battery life. However, the storage is too small and the display is not really good.
- The Amazon Fire HD 8 is a third alternative, but it does not run on Android. Good battery life and long software support are advantages of the model, but the weak performance, small storage, and limited Amazon OS features are rather disadvantages.
Affordable Devices Tested: By the way, I already tested another affordable device from Blackview for MeinMMO. I also wondered whether such a device is worth it with the 100-euro phone. You can read the full test directly on MeinMMO:
