With Apogea, a new MMORPG is set to appear “soon” on Steam, which focuses on a medieval fantasy setting, promises “no Pay2Win,” and is reminiscent of genre greats like Tibia and RuneScape. The first trailer is very well received despite the old-school isometric graphics.
What kind of game is Apogea? The MMORPG from the indie studio Trinitas aims to immerse you in a seamless medieval world, filled with numerous secrets, quests, dangers, and of course, other player characters. The promised features include:
- a focus on “no Pay2Win” to ensure that all players have the same chance for a successful gaming experience based on their skills and dedication
- you start as a squire and then pursue a career as a knight, mage, or rogue
- through skill trees, you learn spells and advanced combat techniques, and you can also improve your abilities
- the world consists of several biomes such as forests, swamps, deserts, or underground caves
- NPCs offer quests, monsters drop loot, you can trade, or engage in PvP battles with other players

What does the trailer reveal? The 57 seconds showcase, in addition to the old-school but charming graphics and the various biomes and monsters of the game world, exciting details such as character progression: With each level-up, you can distribute three attribute points.
Moreover, all equipment pieces, visibly presented as swords, bows, books, and so on, seem to be lying directly in the game world. On X, the developers cite the original Tibia, Diablo, Old School RuneScape, and the Tolkien universe as sources of inspiration.
How does the MMORPG community react? Despite the outdated graphics, many commenters under the trailer and on Reddit express enthusiasm.
