The Skies: Reborn
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: Citadel Studios | Platform: PC | Release Date: November 12, 2020 | Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? The Skies: Reborn is a post-apocalyptic MMORPG. In the game, Earth’s civilization has collapsed due to increased solar activity. Now, 150 years later, the reconquest of the planet is supposed to begin.
- The game offers a large world of 12 km², where you travel on foot and with vehicles.
- You must fight against gangs and mutants as well as engage in PvP against other players in fast-paced shooter battles. To do this, you enhance your hero’s skills and craft or find powerful equipment.
- You can upgrade your weapons over time.
- In dialogues with NPCs, you can make decisions that affect the world.
- It is possible to become a trader, clan leader, or bandit, as well as the mayor of your own town, and work with other players to boost the economy in-game.
In fact, Skies: Reborn somewhat resembles Fallout 76, just with even more MMORPG elements.
How is Skies: Reborn doing currently? Skies: Reborn was heavily criticized upon release. Currently, it has 72 % negative reviews, although there are only 99 reviews. Overall, the game is in very bad shape:
According to Steamcharts, at peak only 61 people played simultaneously. In the last 30 days, only an average of 2.2 players were online.
According to reviews, the game is technically unoptimized, has bugs, and is even Pay2Win. There were even some hackers at the start. However, given the low player counts, they are likely long gone.
That’s why I believe Skies: Reborn will die in 2021: The first version of the post-apocalyptic MMORPG The Skies launched back in 2016. It started in Early Access but never progressed beyond that phase.
The new version is also not doing well at all. Some even see it as a regression compared to the first version. Thus, the chances of it being shut down in the new year are high.
