I played a new MMORPG hope – Did not understand a word, but already a conclusion

The MMORPG Swords of Legends Online will be launched in the West by publisher Gameforge in 2021. However, the game has already been running in China and Taiwan for several years. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch checked out the online role-playing game in Taiwan and was pleasantly surprised.

I have been waiting for a really good, new theme park MMORPG for years. While two games from Korea, Blade & Soul in 2016 and Astellia in 2019, came to us that focus on PvE, story, and dungeons, they couldn’t keep me engaged for long.

When Gameforge announced the release of Swords of Legends Online for us in Germany, I had to check out the game. It promises a strong focus on story, dungeons, raids, and various PvP modes.

To take a look at the new MMORPG, I used the client from Taiwan, which offers a free-to-play version that allows players to try out the beginning of the MMORPG for free. Although SOLO is a subscription game in Taiwan, you won’t have to spend a dime. You will find a detailed explanation of how to install the game at the end of the article.

Looks like a better Blade & Soul at first glance

What kind of impression does the game make? I started Swords of Legends Online with rather low expectations, as many Asian MMORPGs in recent years have been somewhat disappointing for me, such as Bless or Revelation Online.

I was therefore pleasantly surprised by the beautiful graphics, the good combat system, and especially the many story-driven cutscenes, even though I did not understand a word. The world feels coherent at first glance and has something inviting about it.

At first glance, there are many indications that it could be a better Blade & Soul.

You can get a small impression of my experiences in this YouTube video, where I summarized the first 30 minutes. So far, I have spent just over 4 hours in SOLO:
