That equipment will play a big role again in Monster Hunter Wilds is as certain as the fact that you will go monster hunting in the game. However, especially for those for whom style is particularly important, the latest installment offers a lot of freedom.
What customization options are currently known? In a Dev Stream on YouTube, it was confirmed that layered armors will be part of the game again. Some may know this feature as “transmog” and allows hunters to overlay a different appearance over the armor they are currently wearing. These will not be available right from the start but will be unlocked throughout the game.
Whether it will be possible to dye the armor this time, as in Monster Hunter World, is still unknown. However, it is likely that this will also be possible again.
New is the fact that the so-called gender lock will be lifted. You are no longer restricted to the armor of your character’s gender. You can now easily wear masculine armors as a feminine character and vice versa.
The latest trailer gives a small taste of what to expect in Monster Hunter Wilds:
More options, more fashion
Why is this special? So far, it was only possible to choose hairstyles without the restriction of the character’s gender. However, it has long been a major wish of the community to lift this restriction for armors as well. This wish will now be fulfilled with Monster Hunter Wilds, allowing fans of a special wardrobe to fully express themselves here.
The community loves it: There is a lot of support for this decision on social media. Many in the community place great importance on being appropriately dressed during their monster hunts, and the fact that they now have more options available seems to bring great joy:
- Aggravating_Swan_508 via Reddit: “I never sacrifice the look unless a specific quest requires it lol.”
- Monster Hunter Jhokes via x.com: “The fact that Wilds has no gender-bound armor is a real hype”
- ArchAngelZXV via reddit: “Women in plate armor. Men with cleavage and bare thighs. God bless them, Capcom gives everyone what they want.”
- ChillaxingJay via reddit: “As a fashion hunter, I am excited about the possibilities to make my hunter look even more stylish than ever before.”
Players in the threads are hyped about the new possibilities and are looking forward to trying out different combinations. A few think that the feature was unnecessary, but they are still happy to have the choice.
However, the fact that capes will also make a comeback in Monster Hunter Wilds has not received as much support recently. Some fans seem to have an issue with this accessory. Others, however, are looking forward to being able to play with the feature again: Capes return in Monster Hunter Wilds as equipment, but not everyone is happy about it
