4. The Fourth Horseman
What can the weapon do? The exotic shotgun “The Fourth Horseman” fires faster than you can blink. When you pull the trigger, it automatically thunders out of four barrels, and each subsequent hit deals more damage than the previous one.
This is what makes the appearance so great: The look of the shotgun resembles more of an earthbound Winchester shotgun than a firearm from a far-off future. The Fourth Horseman impresses with its elegant wood grain and an engraving that resembles the signature of a gunsmith.
When I equip the shotgun, images of duels in the Wild West immediately appear, and I can almost taste the dust. Ready for every misdeed, I call out to my enemies laughing: Today, blue beans for lunch.
This ornament refines the gun: If you prefer something more contemporary, you can opt for the ornament “Death Knocks”. This transforms the weapon into a mix of classic and modern. The shotgun now looks as if someone rediscovered the old weapon and significantly enhanced it to make it even deadlier.
5. Sunshot
What can the weapon do? The exotic hand cannon Sunshot primarily focuses on one thing: explosions. You fire blazing solar projectiles. When these take out an opponent, they explode spectacularly. Additionally, the explosions chain together—often one shot is enough to blow the entire battlefield apart.
This is what makes the appearance so great: The design of Sunshot features hard edges and clear lines. At the heart of the revolver lies the combustion chamber, which glows with each shot and gives the impression of being barely held in check.
The Exotic has been a fan favorite since the days of Destiny 2’s beta, and it has been a constant in my inventory since then. And that’s not just due to its power, but especially because of its really hot design.
This ornament refines the gun: Choosing the coolest ornament is extremely difficult when it comes to Sunshot, but I chose “Quark Star”. Because it perfectly emphasizes the cosmic power of the revolver. Now the Exotic truly looks like how it feels when it plays, as if it were spitting fiery meteors.
6. Izanagi’s Burden
What can the weapon do? The exotic sniper rifle Izanagi’s Burden allows you to compress the entire magazine into a super bullet—this unique ability is called “Polished Edge”. The following shot lets you almost take down any opponent instantly.
This is what makes the appearance so great: Everything about this sniper evokes memories of a sword. The angular blade-like appearance is wonderfully accompanied by the sound design. When you activate your Exo perk, the distinctive metallic sound of a drawn sword blade rings out.
Even if the sniper weren’t as powerful, the unique appearance would always draw me back to this “sword”. The theme fits very well with the lore surrounding the weapon. We forge Izanagi in the Black Armory ourselves using an ancient mold.
This ornament refines the gun: Thanks to the skin, this sniper no longer resembles a knight’s sword but a stylish Japanese katana. This not only suits the name of the ornament “Ronin” but also the Far Eastern origin legend surrounding Izanagi and Izanami (via Wikipedia).
7. Legend of Acrius
What can the weapon do? The Exotic Legend of Acrius is the epitome of a heavy space shotgun. One pull of the trigger creates an arc explosion in front of you that pulverizes everything.
This is what makes the appearance so great: The shotgun reminds me of a brutal weapon from Doom. Small details like the writhing bolts that create the powerful explosion when firing show how much love Bungie has put into the design.
According to in-game lore, the Acrius is a weapon of the Cabal. This becomes immediately apparent as soon as you equip the big guy – he seems too oversized for our slender Guardian. It plays as sluggish as it looks and is really hefty.
This ornament refines the gun: With the ornament “Warbeast Skin”, the roots of the warlike Cabal come even more to light. Red, scaly, brutal are the keywords here. That my enemies don’t flee in fear when I slowly stomp toward them with the Acrius always surprises me.
He feels at home in PvE and PvP. Exotics and their special properties particularly excite him. He currently owns 149 / 150 Exotics; only Tarabah refuses to drop.
On the next page, of course, it continues with a revolver, but there is also a slightly different Destiny weapon and a bonus for all ornament lovers.
